Grow up and get behind Riyad, or: stop listening to the press and wait and see how he reacts on the pitch

Yeah I did think for a while Man City were about the only big club who haven't properly pissed me off. Sure enough they've managed it.

This is not going to end well for Mahrez. If push comes to shove, the owners can afford to take the financial hit and let him rot for the next two years. The grudge they bear against Brady and West Ham show how important 'face' is to them, and they are not about to be shown up by a spolit, mardy kid and his tantrums.

I, for one, applaud them for that.

Yep, feel like they’d be willing to make an example of him. The lad needs to get his head straight and do what he’s paid to do

West Brom did this with berahino, and now look at him. Like you said money isn’t an issue, it isn’t for PL clubs anymore and gives us a bit more power than we would have had a few years ago.

He signed a contract, his valuation hasn’t been met so he needs to be professional and get on with it. We aren’t selling him for peanuts because a club he wants to join comes in for him. Besides he would have been benched once Sane returns. Clubs look at attitudes like this and will be put off by how he is behaving. Imagine Barca coming in if he went to Man City would he do the same? most likely

Really stupid from Riyad to go on strike. It won't help his case. From a purely "is this going to help me or hurt me" point of view, he ****ed up.

But I can see his point of view. Yeah, the coutinho and VVD deals, I know. But where is the line drawn? Like take off the tinted glasses and be introspective for a second.

Either way mahrez is only screwing himself, Leicester have a chance at Europe and can still win the FA cup. Something tells me there was a broken promise involved between him and the owner. Gotta cover your ass, never trust anyone.

Well only Roma put a firm bid in and that was only around 26m... You can’t expect us to sell our best player right at the end of January, especially when his valuation hasn’t been met, it would have left us no time for a replacement. So I don’t see where Mahrez is coming from at all. Disappointed I can understand, acting like a kid who didn’t get the toy they wanted is just pathetic and totally unprofessional

I was thinking the same. I genuinely think they would sooner make an example of Mahrez and lose out on a large sum of money than bow down to the tactics of a player and his agent.

The only way this ends well for Mahrez is if he gets his head down and plays to the best of his ability for the rest of the season. If he refuses to play, he runs the risk of being left to rot. If he plays, but half-heartedly, he runs the risk of not being wanted by the top clubs.

I'm sure the owners would be willing to get him to sign a new contract with a release clause at an acceptable level, with maybe a time limit of a month before the transfer deadline, if it will help. That way, everybody wins.

I'm not sure if I want to be an adult today or slightly childish.

Finnegan, can you tell me which one I need to be, please?

Unless he extends that contract (which I can't see him doing) we would gain nothing from that arrangement. Also, the problem with a release clause is that atm transfer fees are increasing at such a rate that what might seem a reasonable valuation now, might be a giveaway price by summer or beyond.

And as a point of principle I don't want to see his antics rewarded with a pay rise.

Yes we destroyed his dream... got him from nowhere, he has since won a PL title and PFA award as well as play in the champions league and on over 100k a week... all while at Leicester. He is just so awful to Mahrez

I was rooting for Man City to go invincible and win the Prem as I hated the other top teams apart from Chelsea. Now I hate them too...

Why is it, that other clubs just think they can underbid for our players, while we have to pay toprate for our targets? 50M for one of PLs most creative players is a flippin joke in this market and we are the bad guys for saying no; what the hell...???

Croyez moi, je pense que Mahrez est un joueur de football extraordinaire. Sa perception spatiale est incroyable et aussi son contrôle - presque comme Zidane. Mais il a une probleme - son tempérament. Nous disons, en Anglais, 'he is his own worst enemy'.

J’espère que vous comprenez mes mots.

Bien amicalement

Agree. But must be terrible being forced into playing Premier League Football for  lowly LCFC for the next 3.5 months.  And shame on you LCFC for only giving him UKP 400,000 a month.  Murphy and Durham have a point.

Some comments on the Manchester City forum :

Mahrez should stop sulking , come back and only give 10% effort and then

try and score own goals !!

The owners are liars and in breach of what they promised Mahrez.

I remember when Shaun Goater was your best player and no we did not take

performance enhancing drugs when we won the title.... which you continually accused us of doing.

To be honest, after this week's shenanigans, I think many outside of Leicester may now think it was a fair offer for Monsieur strop.

He won't be, but I'd demand he was at the ground today watching his teammates, at least trying to look like he wants to integrate and is getting over his wobble.

The longer he is away, the harder it will be for him. Moreover, unless his fine is public knowledge, many of his teammates may just get the arse with his extra week off, on full pay.

it seemed to me that you understood my two posts thoroughly since you replied in the first but you avoided replying on the second

I meant that you shut down your mind when dealing with mahrez and your post was belittling mahrez as he is not European so you were on same idea with your friend saying that he only perform to get a move

mahrez is mahrez a confirmed top player

Au contraire, Gerbold can never be accused of having a closed mind unlike your baseless and  biased fanboy rantings!

No pay rise- it would be purely to add the release clause. That way he knows he can go as soon as the right offer comes in, we don't need to worry about his agent coming up with plans to force the move which affect his performances, and we get the money we want. Only issue, like you said, is the huge inflation rate in the market.

totally agree

adding the release clause is the only way to fix this problem znd get him to training again mahrez had done a lot for Leicester ( he choose lcfc over a move to o marseille or PSG in 2014) and Leicester gave him a lot a wonderful fans znd very special story that was in the making before his arrival )

for the market  inflation they may put a price (77-85) and if in the summer it goes beyond 100-120

leiceser can negotiate adding a reasonable % as bonuses
