Itk at French Football claiming we were in talks with the citizens since at the very least 15 days before deadline-day.

It is said that we were asking for 75M plus one of Yaya Toure or Mangala as part of the deal, but also are accused of delaying the negociations to force the citizens into a deadline panic-buy.

As per usual, take this with a pinch of salt ; but if any of this finds substance....

Google translation:

Unfortunately for Riyad Mahrez (26), the story has once again been repeated. Player of Leicester since the 2013/2014 season, the Algerian international (35 caps, 8 goals) is considered one of the best elements of his team, if not the best. With the Foxes, the former Le Havre reached the heights by winning the Premier League in 2016. But while this coronation seemed to be synonymous with springboard to a great European, Mahrez continues to see his leaders block his departure.

This winter was again the case when Manchester City knocked on his door. The Citizens were ready to put more than 60 M € to tear the player to Leicester, but that was not enough. A decision that strongly impacted the player. As we told you, Mahrez was so bad that he had even thought of stopping football. To explain the Foxes' refusal to sell their offensive asset, the British press reported that the current eighth in the Premier League had claimed no less than € 112 million, wanting to take advantage of the last hours of the transfer window to raise the stakes.

Leicester believed to bend Manchester City

A version that would not be quite accurate to believe France Football. The weekly indicates indeed that Leicester has made a big move with City. Thus, the club of central England would not have claimed € 112 million dry, but rather a check between € 80 million and € 90 million + a player Pep Guardiola, namely Eliaquim Mangala or Yaya Toure. A proposal that did not seduce City. But the most interesting in the case concerns the timing of the Mancunian approach.

Contrary to what was announced, the Skyblues would not have tried to close this file in the last hours of the transfer window. In fact, contacts would have been established as early as mid-January, two weeks before the market closed. Leicester would then have done everything to push the advances of City to the end to hope the famous "panic buy" (a transfer made in the emergency) following the injury of Leroy Sané. The rest, we know it.

Mangala is crap and Toure is a corpse.

Idea we would want either of them is laughable.

Once again no mention of the Cuntract he signed and is probably in breach of.....and what's it got to do with the French, we're reminded every 7.83 seconds on here he's an Algerian Prisoner....

Ah French Football again. If we believed them Mahrez who have joined Chelsea, Liverpool and Roma by now.

No way would we want Toure or Mangala. Even if we did delay it all, I’m glad cos Man City took the p**s with Kelechi

It would make Mahrez's response more understandable, just because nobody heard about it until the last minute, doesn't mean it wasn't going on throughout January. It's definitely plausible, but with no direct quotes it is hard to just accept at face value.

Rumors come from France football at the base ...
The guy is called Nabil djellit, it's a close to Mahrez almost ... for me it is not credible at all.
This guy is described as a community journalist and I agree, I am myself of Algerian origin but
it's not a reason to eat everything..

No, it does not make it more understandable.

It does, if you've been involved in a transfer negotiating for weeks, you hand in a transfer request, which benefits the club, then the deal falls through and everyone is calling you a greedy mercenary when you have been working with the club, and playing in that period, you would be a bit pissed off.

It doesn't make it right, but it is more understandable why he has reacted so badly to the news, more so than Sane gets injured Man City try a last minute deal, we and say no.

There isn't a chance in hell we wanted Mangala or Toure for staters, there is zero need for either in the squad. Oh and France Football is a load of old bollocks.

He is being called names because of his actions after the deal fell through.

There was a contract between both parties.  I guarantee Mahrez would have enforced his end, if the team had did not live up to the contract.

So why is it okay for Mahrez to not live up to his end of it ?
