He is being called names because of his actions after the deal fell through.

There was a contract between both parties.  I guarantee Mahrez would have enforced his end, if the team had did not live up to the contract.

So why is it okay for Mahrez to not live up to his end of it ?

I'm not saying what he has done is right, but he has been portrayed as the bad guy here when you don't know what the club has told him. They have refused to make a public statement so all you are getting is the press talking shit about Mahrez. If the club had been talking to Man City for weeks, then it is not the same thing as Mahrez handing in a transfer request at the last minute trying to push a deal through. If he feels the club have sold him down the river and made him a scapegoat for this deal then he has a right to be pissed off. The fact the club have made no official statement just fuels the rumours. I said in a different thread the club have handled this really badly. They could and should have been more open about what happened.

There isn't a chance in hell we wanted Mangala or Toure for staters, there is zero need for either in the squad. Oh and France Football is a load of old bollocks.

Although Toure's arse is big enough to put a new training ground on.

I think the whole things is just an example of the masterful mind games from Puel to undermine Pep's belief in his own omnipotence and utter control of football ahead of our game. Is it just coincidence that this episode with Mahrez has coincided with a dip in form at MCFC & players looking physically & mentally tired with Pep probably questioning his own ability to stop their form dropping off a cliff? ;)

Even if this article is true, it doesn't really say anything of note.

It does not imply we lied to Mahrez. Neither does it imply that at any point Man City matched our valuation. It doesn't really say anything. Delaying negotiations is irrelevant if Man City were never prepared to pay what we asked for.

So the facts we have are: Man City didn't match our valuation, we didn't sell him, Mahrez hasn't turned up for training since.

Now, even without being told, I would assume that Mahrez was aware that he wouldn't be sold for £60m. I don't know why he (or anyone) even bothered handing in a transfer request. We know he wants to leave, but he's not going to unless we get the money we ask for.

So, I fail to see how it would make his actions more understandable.

No idea if this is true, and I like the counter arguement, but the fact the club has remained silent could be because there's bugger all to say, rather than the club buggered him.

There is clearly a lot to say one way or the other, but all the silence is doing is allowing the press to say what they want. If you believe the press Mahrez has had no contact with the club and is in hiding/on strike and the club can't do anything about it.

I very much doubt that is the case, there will have been some dialogue between the club and Mahrez and something will have been decided. Even if it is for Mahrez to stay away for a few more days before they sit down and talk.

The truth is, until Sane got injured, they weren't interested.

Mahrez needs to realise that he was go to Man City to play 5-6 games and then sit on a bench unless he played out of his skin in every one of those games.

Citheh or Sh*teh would be more apropriate ?

City in any form isn't appropriate without Man or Manchester in front of it. No more appropriate than the football world calling us City and we wouldn't expect that.

Thought Puel said on the record, at some point before deadline day, that no offers had been received?? So why would he say that?

Because he was telling the truth.

I wouldn't take any notice of comments made in France.

We all know Man City tried their best to get Mahrez on the cheap and as I have said before his valuation would easily be £100M plus if he was their player.

The fact is Mahrez has a contract here which he happily agreed to. He decided the best course of action was to go awol. It's time he grew a pair and got on with it.

Load of rubbish, it says 15 days before the deadline, which would have meant Mahrez would have known about a bid and rejection/problems and would have downed tools earlier than he did.

Exactly my point! No need to make such a statement unless it was true.

What are they going to say? "Yeah Mahrez is still in a mardy in the airport. And, lads, if you see him tell him we'll pay a cab back to the stadium. Ta." Or "Man City, eh? What a bunch of nobheads." He wanted out. We wanted more money than Man City wanted to give us. He's not been training for a while. He's not in the team. I cannot think of anything a press conference would give us. It's not like we're going to divulge the details of negotiations to encourage the circus.
