My post might not be factual tbf. Was just responding to bitter wba tweet

It wasn't bitter, it was fact. They've just been relegated. Does it make him a bad player? No. A team gets relegated.

Maybe just maybe Evans was playing shite on purpose when he realised WBA were in trouble. They wouldn't let him leave when he wanted to and he obviously knew about his release clause and him not doing great could be down to him wanting to ensure he gets his switch and a fat signing on fee.

Just saying, in no way am I saying this is what happened! Just a thought I had.

He's won more trophies than us too then.

yep.

Few Premier Leagues. 1 Champions League.

Probably an FA Cup? Charity Shield?

Jonny Evans has won more trophies than West Brom

I was there at the home match when their fans sang to us "Jonny Evans, he's won more than you!".

We just sang it back to them.

You make him sound just like Mahrez

I work in West Brom and know many a ST holder and some knowledgable fans who are coaches in the West Midlands.

Jonny Evans was player of the year by a country mile the season before last in what was a successful campaign up to the last couple of months.

They were calling us delusional for wanting to buy him last summer, saying we were the same size club as them, and that if he did move, it should be to a top 4 champions league team.

Yes, this year hasn’t gone well, but that includes virtually everyone at WBA. If it hadn’t he wouldn’t be here.

That’s not very good

And a West Brom fan I spoke to said to me that Pardew wanted Evans to play different roles which didn't work out, but he`s a quality player as a cb ….

Only slightly above the average premier league salary so it's about right.

It’s what Huth was on when he joined, so pretty palatable

West Brom conceded 56 goals, that's only 5 less than Arsenal, it's less than Everton, Leicester, one more than Palace, less than Bournemouth, West Ham and Watford, only 2 more than Brighton, less than Hudderfield, same as Saints and Swansea and less than Stoke. The defence, was pretty much average for the league (not that he's responsible for the whole defence). The problem was scoring goals, they got 31 in total. We aren't far off getting twice that amount.

We was until Mahrez leaves! I wouldn’t count your chickens on Goals scores next season just yet!

If we don’t replace properly we could have a lot less goals scored!

That is critical.

We do not have any other player that can truly break defences down like Mahrez does. He has contributed to 10+ goals and 10+assist in the last 3 seasons. We need to replace that.

The point is about Evans and the defence, not Mahrez and the attack. That's a completely different discussion.

There will be others stepping up or having to step up in the place of Mahrez, I'm thinking of Albrighton (to an extent, if played on the left constantly), Gray (hardly any end product so far), Silva (assists mostly), Iborra, Diabaté, Ndidi. We've become too dependent on two players only in the past few years in Vardy and Mahrez, that needs to change. Once Riyad leaves, we'll get a promising right midfielder in with the necessary skills, potentially even another talented left midfielder.

What can't happen again is us shipping 60 goals against. We are addressing the need for a stable back four with the signing of Evans. Ideally, I'd like us to go for another centre-back and left-back this summer already, in case Benalouane is sold or Fuchs leaves in January 2019 already.

Albrighton has never scored enough goals for us, that's with having Riyad in the team taking most of the pressure off the other players. Watching Diabate, you can see he's just missing his end product, I don't see that with Gray. Gray just does not seem to have the football Brain needed at this level to be able to succeed.  If we keep him, I hope he gets played on the right because he's completely in effective on the left.
