When we eventually get relegated, I would not want anyone else.

I think the squad/club has changed too much for him to come back and make much difference, especially without Walsh or Shakespeare. I dont think the plucky underdog lads he brought up from the Premier League are the same, and would probably turn on him if their performances arent great. There will be a lot more egos in the dressing room compared to when we were just a little team in the Championship.

I think we should be looking to give a fresh face a chance first.

Not that the owners would ever bring him back while we are in the Prem anyway.

Do other clubs fans clamour so much for previous managers over and over again like we do? O'Neill for years and now Pearson. Don't you realise that if teams constantly looked to the past that none of them would ever progress?

I know there's an argument for what Pearson built here, he was a proper manager with us and anybody who doesn't give what he did the respect it deserves should be straight in the sea. However, how many times can you keep going back cap in hand trying to rekindle something? It smacks of desperation. Sadly, the bafoons at our club probably don't have the capability of appointing somebody else to build the next dynasty here and bringing him back for a 3rd time might be wiser than giving it some oink like they have with Puel. So much has now changed though for both us and Pearson. He's had a horrible few years, arguably he's nothing without Shakespeare and Walsh (I know both could be available again if the band were to be put back together) and what's he left with here? Most of his old cronies we are desperate to be fcuked off like Morgan, King, Huth, Simpson etc.

This club needs to stop looking back, I'd rip the fcuker apart with a brave and innovative manager, a new competent DOF (ideally chosen with the new manager in mind) and a new recruitment director and a better regime within the academy. I'd tell any player who is resistent to change and thinks we should be doing what we did a few years ago to sod off, that includes Vardy, Kasper and Mahrez.

It's time for a new era, we've had an incredible past decade of ups and downs. We are heading for a down again though and we shouldn't accept our fate by continuing to make horrendous decisions and wasting obscene amounts of money in the process. There's a common theme right now amongst a lot of this and it's coming from the top downwards. The executives at this club have got to fcukin go.

I understand exactly what your saying and agree with the most part, however the bit in bold regarding wasting obscene amounts of money didn't happen under Pearson's time here.

I didn't say it did. I'm saying it's happening right now and we cannot accept our fate as if there's nothing we can do about it should we continue until ultimately we go down and have to change everything!

Pro:

- he knows the club and knows how to rebuild it

- fans love him for the most part and are willing to give him time.

- he would not tolerate players throwing their dummy out

Cons

- He's done nothing of note since leaving us 3 years ago

- Our ambition is Europa League. Unsure if he's capable of that.

I'm leaning towards No but would 100% support him and give him time if he came back.

We have had the easiest chance ever to make the Europa League this season and have let it slip and some fans was saying its probably for the best... so is our ambition really Europa league?

Absolutely love the bloke to bits and think he's one of the best managers we've ever had, but I wouldn't have him back personally - we need to move on, and if we keep thinking of him as our 'safety net' then we're never going to get anywhere. It wouldn't really be the same as the last time he was here either, as a lot of his team have moved on, and I'd be very surprised if Walsh and Shakespeare came back with him.

I personally think there needs to be changes at the top - Rudkin needs to go - and someone with experience of really running a club, negotiating transfers and hiring managers should be brought in. It's clear that some of the thinking needs to change at the highest level - there's plenty of willing from our owners, but I think they're lacking a bit of experience, which shows in the transfer market and the appointment of managers.

Hiring Nigel Pearson solves none of the issues that we've got at the club, it's just regressive - we need to solve the root problems.

He ticks many of the boxes of what we require, but he always struggled as a tactician and was only really successful when he had a settled team and style that he could maintain. In the Premier League you need to be flexible and quick to react. I'm not sure he is capable of that.

I could think of worse options, but it's not the proactive, forward thinking appointment that I want the club to make.

100% competing to be in Europe but 7th through the qualifying rounds is actually the worst situation in a World Cup year.

So most fans were sensibly stating that win the cup or come 5th yes then the Europa but 6th or 7th with a return in July makes no sense.

The owners have ambitions to be in CL again and will show it at the end of the season when they get rid of CP and also not look back by appointing NP.

My favourite ever manager, but would not be a step forwards. Given our fanbase are not happy with being 9th in the Premiership, Pearson would risk tarnishing his legacy.

Nigel gave me some of my best times supporting this club and created a unity I've not felt before or since his tenure.

I believe that he could come back here and take us forward but I do worry that it'd be too much and could end up not working, especially if he can't get the old team back together.

Also, I feel like we need a proper overhaul here - new manager with his own backroom team and an overhaul of our playing squad, removing some of the title winners so we can push on.

What we've got at the moment feels like groundhog day.

The problem is - we know with Nigel that we'd get that stability and eventually he'd iron things out but can Rudkin find someone better who won't just be a yes man for him?

I think if our owners have true intentions of becoming a top 7 / top 8 club then they need to make an ambitious appointment and spend the necessary to get someone really forward-thinking here.

Nigel would be a safe bet, but I think I'd prefer, if possible; to see a proper overhaul throughout the club from DOF to players.

I really don't think there are many fans that have a problem with our league position.

I think what most people are disappointed by is the awful results, performances and style of play they've had to endure for half a season. If we were 9th, but looking competitive and scoring goals, then I don't think the manager's job would be in doubt.

We're clearly in steep decline and something has to change.

What do people mean by step forward?

I dont know what our fans expect? We possibly have the 8th highest budget in the premier league so anything less than 10th is a poor season. We won't break the top 6 with our current budget so unless we up our budget what is a step forward?

As a football fan I just want to be entertained. Currently that is not the case, I would always enjoy watching us under Pearson as the players always gave 100% and we made progress.

I dont see what we have to lose to be honest? If he does well then great, if he does bad then we won't have to have this discussion again

Finishes under Pearson:

14/15 Premier League: 14th

13/14 Championship: 1st

12/13 Championship: 6th

11/12 Championship: 9th (12th when he joined)

--------------------------------------

09/10 Championship: 5th

08/09 League One: 1st

See a pattern here? I do, and 'going backwards' isn't it.

You wouldn't see such a percentage of other fans show such blatant disregard for their legendary managers. I don't know what's up with half the City fans, really I don't.
