For a young homegrown lad, who has been part of the England youth set up for a long time and now is being looked at by the seniors. He's not the finished article yet, but there is one hell of a player in there and I for one hope we get to see it here. He’s not good enough for us, let alone England, just because he is our homegrown player dosnt mean he is the best thing since sliced bread, and it shows how absolute shite the England squad are to take him tbf, I’m very glad I can’t get in the mood for England now days 1 1

That’s a joke, I really hope not. Chillwell needs to realise his performances have not been good enough. basics for a full back.... defending, crossing a ball! he needs to improve both. (I think he can improve and play for England 1 day)
weller54 Posted 12 May 2018 Posted 12 May 2018 The sight of Kane and Alli in an England shirt turns my stomach!.. For that reason alone I don't care a flying fvck about watching them! Cvnts!! 2

st albans fox Posted 12 May 2018 Posted 12 May 2018 Incidentally, chilwell looks better playing for the U21’s than for us. Maybe he’s better suited to international football than the prem at the moment. anyway, he has too many ahead of him unless Southgate is determined to use this tournement looking forward and not select any older players as cover.
AjcW Posted 12 May 2018 Posted 12 May 2018 Just to clarify, it’s a 23 man squad Wednesday with 6 or 7 standby named also. He has to submit 35 names in private to FIFA on Sunday. But that won’t be published in any way. You don’t usually have to trim down to 23 until June but he’s clearly getting it out the way early to give players time to know what they are doing and because we’re having two pre tournament training camps. All pretty positive in my eyes, he’s meticulous in everything he does and this sort of organisation might help England.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 12 May 2018 Posted 12 May 2018 (edited) I'd be proud to see any Leicester player called up for the national side I do think Chilwell gets a much harder time on here than other players. He's still young, he's learning and he's one of our own, yet for whatever reason some are too adamant that he'll never make it they fail to realize that he actually has potential. This is his breakout season, he's 21 and has a long time to improve. I still have faith he'll be a quality player. He has his good games and has his bad, but we need to back him. Do I think he's England quality yet? No not really, but the fact he's been capped at every level and now the senior squad are interested in him shows that they can see he has potential. Everyone can see he has potential bar some of his own fans! Edited 12 May 2018 by TheUltimateWinner 3
Kitchandro Posted 12 May 2018 Posted 12 May 2018 I'm sure this will be a squad full of bang in form, deserving individuals from a variety of teams and will be in no way biased towards the bigger clubs.

The fact they're picking him says more about them than it does about him. This is a set up that never considered Drinkwater or Albrighton when they were taking the piss, so don't run your mouth like what the FA think holds any sort of credence.

Hart or Pope? I would put money on that he selects Hart.

Vardy and Maguire for the standby list to make room for Welbeck and Smalling?
Ian Nacho Posted 12 May 2018 Posted 12 May 2018 Chilwell potentially on the backup list I heard. Don't understand the hate he gets on here, 21-year-old lad from the academy and seems like none of you want him to succeed. 3

alanf0x Posted 12 May 2018 Posted 12 May 2018 Chillwell is a shit Liam Moore. Remember when people were talking about him getting an England call up and now he isn’t even standing out at a struggling championship team
Hammo Posted 12 May 2018 Posted 12 May 2018 Let's be honest. Maguire and Vardy are the only two Leicester players deserving of a place in the 23. From other clubs, of the players unlikely to be selected, I'd take Townsend and Carroll - because they offer something different - and also persuade Milner - excellent in the Champions League - to come out of international retirement. My 23 G - Pickford (first choice), Butland, Hart D - Walker, Trippier, Maguire, Stones, Cahill, Jones, Bertrand, Young M - Dier, Henderson, Wilshere, Lingard, Milner, Lallana (if fit; if not Alli), Townsend A - Kane, Vardy, Rashford, Sterling, Carroll

I genuinely believe Drinkwater isn't that bothered about playing for England. (Part of me says I can't blame him for that though really, even though it'd be a massive honour to play for your country - even England) He seemed to duck most opportunities when offered the chance with England and again I can't blame him for wanting to test himself at a better level with better players for better money at Chelsea but surely even he must have realised he'd just be a benchwarmer at Chelsea and chances would be limited therefore waving goodbye to any England chances. Money obviously meant more to him than actually playing, each to their own, I can't blame him for that, although he could have had the best of both worlds here, I hope my comments don't sound like a bitter opinion of him, they're not, it's just the way I see/saw it, common sense and something anyone could have told you when he made the move. 4
nepa fox Posted 12 May 2018 Posted 12 May 2018 Chill ell needs to work on that right foot. He won't get better at helping his team's, when defenders know he will only go to his left. He' not going to run by everyone. Quality young player with room to improve 1

Dan Posted 12 May 2018 Posted 12 May 2018 I'd be gobsmacked if Chilwell goes. There's a talent there but he's not ready for this.
