I don’t think he’s actually played that often for them... something like 4 games isn’t it?

im ok with someone not being good enough for Barcelona being good enough for Leicester...

He played five games which were mainly dead rubbers and he performed poorly.

I'm not saying if he isn't good enough for Barca he isn't good enough for us. It just looks like being mugged off when they buy a player for £9m in January and has tripled in value in six months despite performing poorly. As I said before in a previous post it's great business if you can get it.

Tell your son not to be to downhearted. He probably just needs to play it a bit more and then he’ll soon get the hang of it.

How..................amusing.

Im saying he hasn’t had a chance to perform regularly so he’s not going to get any type of form going..

you have to understand that as soon as an English club is interested the price goes up- we have more tv money coming in that most of the other eagues combined. ( if you take just the next two biggest- spain and Italy, it’s about the same as both of those..) just can’t compare what we are willing to pay/ are quoted compared to other clubs in other leagues are quoted/ have to pay

If they’d just quit messing with the training/ tactics, we’d all be happier..

There were rumours at the end of last season that we had a 50m transfer budget  plus whatever we received back from outgoings.

We don’t know what our overall budget is but seeing as we just got 60m in and have committed to a state of the art training academy and stadium improvements it’s safe to say we are not short of cash. The owners have also recently been spending a lot on racehorses too. They aren’t in cost cutting mode.

I would not suggest that we are short of cash. It just has to be remembered that the club does not get all of the transfer fee and also may depend on things happening in the future.

desperate for this guy to come? - we won’t have Mina, Evans and maguire as all three will expect to start every PL game. Evans ain’t going anywhere and Puel isn’t a three at the back chap

if this guy (or any top CB) is coming then it means that one of maguire or Puel is leaving ............

I know we have had some spectacular successes but that's not the point. Have we ever bought a player who has flopped here and sold on for a profit?

Maybe the odd exception for buttons like Hernandez who came on a free but that's it as far as I recall.

As I said great business for Barcelona if they can buy a player for £9m in January and sell for £25m six months later when he's been absolutely awful in his time at Barcelona.

There aren't many. With Kramaric we made a small profit (600K if I remember rightly), Lawrence we must have at least tripled our investment and we doubled it with Chris Wood. But nothing to the extent that Mina's value has exploded.

I don't really understand why we're prepared to spend £12m on Ward and not make an offer of £15m for a similar age international defender, especially when there's interest in Harry Maguire who may end up being sold.

We might be prepared to, but you don't buy players on the off chance you might sell another... you tend to buy them when it's a done deal or pretty certain the player is going.

Ordinarily, I agree.  However, realistically, I think we have to accept that Maguire will be leaving either this year or next.  So if we've scouted this guy and believe him to be a good player with huge potential, then surely it is about buying him when he is available and at a sensible price, rather than waiting a year down the line.

Also, haven't we just done this with Schmeichel, buying Ward on the off chance that we might sell our no 1 keeper?

Seriously- you think a top player will leave Barca’s bench to sit on ours for a year ??

I think we'd go out and buy another keeper if Kasper went, don't see us buying someone with about two games in a year as our number one if we're actually being serious about top 10 finishes.

Maguie has four years left, if we don't want to sell we don't have to. We'll have scouted replacements for every player, but we can't go out and buy them all because we might sell someone.
