Would love this signing, but cannot imagine it happening.

Even if Barcelona don't see him as a 1st team regular and are prepared to let him go (), surely Champions League clubs in Europe will be in for him?

Think we have been interested in him in the past, but unfortunately his stock has risen too much, and he’ll go to a bigger team who can offer him European football.

Burnley?

We were interested in him before he went to Barca. He’s an absolute show stopper when his head is right.

I've gone off him then.

I've had enough of players that only play when their head is right.

I seem to remember a thread on here in January that we were interested when he went to Barca.

My only reservation would be that he is leaving after just half a season. Normally even a team like Barca would allow for a settling in period and give him another half season at least. The fact he was behind Vermaelan suggests he isn't that great.

Too many non EU players or something, they have to sell him.

There were rumours at the end of last season that we had a 50m transfer budget  plus whatever we received back from outgoings.

We don’t know what our overall budget is but seeing as we just got 60m in and have committed to a state of the art training academy and stadium improvements it’s safe to say we are not short of cash. The owners have also recently been spending a lot on racehorses too. They aren’t in cost cutting mode.

The training ground and stadium improvements have no impact on FFP. Transfer fees do. Also we can only increase our wage bill by a set amount.

We are also no richer than most of the clubs in the prem now. We have no European money to come. So we now have no more money coming in than everton burnley and the like.

Sure but with last seasons prize money plus 60m from Mahrez plus whatever we make from other sales, it’s likely our incomings aren’t done yet. Whether that’s one, two or three more signings we don’t know.

Madisson was 24m, Ricardo 20m, Evans probably 6m including agent fees. So that’s 50m spent and 60m recouped so far.

I personally think we will only make one more signing but if a player like this is available you’d surely at least check if the transfer was possible ?

If we’re supposedly after a Riyad replacement then where would he fit in? Would we have him behind Vardy along with Maddison instead of a front 2?

Competition is going to be high. I can’t see him staying at Barca with Pique, Umtiti, Marlon, Lenglet and Vermaelen all competing for the CB positions. I seem to remember them having a few financial problems a few seasons back so a quick buck could be ideal for them.

They have too many South American players that’s why they’ve sent Paulinho back to China and cashing in on Mina after the World Cup.

Morgan wont allow this one to happen.

Would be an immense signing and with him and Maguire, set pieces with Maddison will result in 10 goals a game.
