teblin Posted 25 July 2018 Posted 25 July 2018 If Maguire stays, why would we be in for him? We have signed one cb.

Buzzell Posted 25 July 2018 Posted 25 July 2018 Surely people realise we’re not going to sign everyone that’s ‘linked’ with us right? 3
Popular Post Tielemans63 Posted 25 July 2018 Popular Post Posted 25 July 2018 (edited) ****ing hell. The state of some of the posters on here. No doubt the same people were fanny-flapping when we didn't go for Jese Rodriguez or Renato Sanches last season. Does my bloody head in all this "Oooh we're going to be in the championship next season because we didn't sign this player I've seen play twice" shite. It's embarrassing. Lyon have already bid €30m. Barcelona have played an absolute blinder with Mina. Signed him 6 months ago for €12m, he only played 5 games, and they're likely going to sell him for nearly 3 times what they paid. Unbelievable. Edited 25 July 2018 by FoxOfMelton

Merging Cultures Posted 26 July 2018 Posted 26 July 2018 I think we should be in for him - even if Maguire is staying, and we should definitely be in for him if Maguire isn't staying. 1
Sly Posted 26 July 2018 Posted 26 July 2018 We’ve looked at this lad. We looked at him prior to him going to Barca. He’ll end up at a bigger club than us, or Everton I’d imagine.

Overnight because he's worn the Barcelona badge, albeit he's not good enough, we're prepared to pay more than double? Great deal!! If his technical ability is not good enough there, why would it be good enough in a faster moving game here? Not saying that we shouldn't buy him but we should pay on ability not size and hyped reputation. Have you actually seen the guy play other than the England game? He is a very good player. He is being sold because they have too many non--EU players, not because he is a bad player.

I'm not saying he's a bad player but he's unproven and therefore nowhere near the inflated 30m price tag Barcelona are asking for him. If he was that promising they'd keep him and sell one of the plethora of other overseas players on their books. The general consensus of the 5 games he played for Barcelona last year was that he was poor, hence they want rid of him first over others. £12-15m may be worth a punt but 30 has to be a bit of a joke. 1

Expect a £40m offer from Everton then 1

Apparently he has been that bad for Barcelona they wanted him gone with months of arriving. He had a great World Cup and scored three goals in the process and now the player they bought for €10m is being touted for €30m. The "Barcelona tax" and great business to sell a failure for €20m profit in six months.
