Squad numbers

If you go on the club shop, when you select shirt personalisation it only shows up a proportion of the squad - i can't imagine they would let you order a new shirt for £60+ and then change the numbers in 2 weeks time. I'd say all of these numbers are probably set in stone, its the other players/new players that are likely to fill in the gaps.

It's odd cos the players have been wearing numbers in pre season so I thought they would be the squad numbers, but Maddison was wearing the 8 shirt then Kelechi was wearing 8 v udinese so fook knows. I do know clubs have a deadline to submit squad numbers though before game 1 but don't know when the deadline actually is

I think that's a shoe in personally. If he doesn't take it and the shirt is free then MAYBE there is some substance behind the rumours that we are trying for a big money winger signing, though personally I don't expect it.

 

- Adrien Silva taking 23 makes sense, it's the number he wore are Sporting and for Portugal at the world cup.

- Maddison having number 10 is taking it away from Andy King, but it's inevitable as he IS our number 10 and was probably one of the reasons we got him (because Puel told him was going to play him in that position). Besides Andy King mentioned in an interview last year when joining Swansea on loan that he thought his career at Leicester was over. That said he should get a testimonial match at the very least - he's been an outstanding servant for us.

- Ricardo was wearing 20 in the last friendly but that is Shinji's number so I wonder what he will wear? Probably 2 with Simpson also being told he can leave I imagine.

- Evans having 6 means he takes it from Huth so again that makes sense.

 

I wonder who will get the 4 shirt given it's Drinkwater's old shirt that no one claimed? Maybe the new Croatian lad, or possibly Iborra? I think Ndidi will stick with 25, even though he deserves a first 11 number.

#26 being taken or not doesn’t indicate anything regarding bringing a winger in. 

 

It’s just a squad number that Mahrez had and kept, a big signing wouldn’t necessarily want #26 just because Mahrez previously wore it.
