Save The Marks Electrical Mural

Seen something on Facebook doing the rounds this afternoon about Marks Electrical selling their building with our Champions mural on it ( on Kate St) The mural isn’t protected so could easily be demolished or done away with once the building is sold. 

 

From what I can gather Marks Electrical are trying to do something about it, but I think we should all be letting the mayor know that we want to keep this, or get it protected somehow. It’d be a travesty to lose that in my opinon

 

Petition anyone?

I certainly don't want it to go. That artwork is the best physical memory we have, or are likely to have. Even a statue at the stadium wouldn't eclipse the quality of the mural in my view.

Petitions etc can only go far.

The council can decide on things without thinking of what the public believes is right etc unfortunately.

Yeah no one wants to see it go.  But suppose mark saw the sale of his building as a dev plot as part of his pension. ... it would be harsh for him to lose his pension coz he was kind  enough to allow the mural.

The club should buy it and relocate it brick by brick to kp

Even if they were to do that, it won't look half as good re-assembled, it would practically need re-painting anyway.

Very fond memories of first visiting this in that very special week in May 2016 when the whole world knew about LCFC.

...it would be an absolute travesty if this were lost so soon.

Lol they won't dismantle the wall the whole building would come down.

Would be about 1000 times cheaper to get the artist to re-do it at the fans zone.

If it get removed get a legends wall down at the KP and get the same bloke to do it there. Bollocks to a statue, have something unique outside the ground.
