When we went to Bruges away I had a Leicester fan also racially abusing my mate. It's never okay. Report it and make sure something happens

Unfortunately it happens at the King Power as well.  At the Wolves game my son and his (white) wife were in the queue to get a drink.  One guy in front of him turned to my son and said "why are you wearing a Leicester shirt?  You should be wearing a Pakistan shirt"

We try to integrate and you get morons like this.  If the guy reads this or the other two with him read this you know who you are and should be ashamed of yourselves.  People like this should be banned for life but it is extremely difficult to prove.

Sadly, they think it regardless of whether they say it .....

i did see some tweets about our fans being abusive toward some at the LBGT pride festival yesterday in Southampton - it works both ways I’m afraid ..........

Sorry to hear that, proper scumbag behaviour.

I was stood by that area of unsold seats as well and I saw our lads run over to the home fans when we equalised. They were proper babies about it, one guy with a big beard got proper wound up and then went crying to the stewards. Which was wierd as the gave out the 'banter' to some women and kids when they scored. Saw one of our lot get taken out as well but that looked to be down the front rather than at the back.

Stewards there are twats, didn't want to know either when I wanted to speak to them about something last season and have heard them say "don't moan, you only paid £20 for your ticket" multiple times.

I love the banter at football. It’s give and take, and adds to the tribal nature and feeling of belonging you get from being a supporter, particularly for me at away games.

There are too many snowflakes getting easily offended, but racist abuse is surely something that isn’t tolerated now. Especially in football grounds. It’s not banter and it isn’t funny.

I was right on the segregation today and during the game witnessed, along with a few others, one of our fans being racially abused by a Saints fan. He was a metre away from me, and inches away from a steward when he said what he said.

Absolutely nothing was done. I’ve never reported anything before at all before, but due to the steward ignoring me asking him about it, I spoke to another steward who wouldn’t deal with it either. Then for speaking out, I got some for the rest of the game from their fans who at the end came over and said they’d be waiting outside for me. My 12 year old son has never been as scared leaving a football match with his dad.

Should I just have kept quiet? I’m no snitch normally, but racism is a big no, no in football and my reaction here was provoked by it being totally ignored.

All the FA campaigns and politically correct words are bullshit if this is the norm.

Should you kept quiet?

Your lad might of been scared but he now knows the seriousness of racial abuse and also that his old man is not a coward and stands up for what he believes in.

So no you absolutely should not have stayed quiet

Disappointing, particularly the fact the stewards did nothing.

You should never expect anything from a steward. People expect a lot of them, but what do you expect to get from people who just turn up for a couple of hours every couple of weeks, minimum wage and have little or no training? It’s not a vocation, it’s purely a way to get pin money for doing the minimum.

If ever there was any sort of emergency at a football ground, I certainly wouldn’t put my life in their hands and I would be making my own decisions.

I even find the word steward funny. Steward, steward, steward, what an odd name. The more you say it, the offer it sounds. Steward.

If you ever ask a steward to do anything other than point you in the direction of your seat, in my opinion you are an extremely optimistic person.

@Rob1742 makes some very good points. I've seen LCFC stewards do absolutely nothing in situations that warranted intervention. IMO they are a result of lip-service, and although it has been rightly pointed out that there is little or no violence these days within our football grounds, it seems to me that it is very difficult to uphold individual rights, or to protect the vulnerable individual now in the face of an incident such as the one cited here. I wanted to report something last season, and aboslutely knew it would be a) useless and b) would likely result in a very uncomfortable experience for me, given it was our own fans that disgusted me in their behaviour.

Tad harsh on the stewards for me. Yes they do very little and should intervene more. But, at the same time, the size/age of the single steward means they have very little influence. But they should report to higher people or the police for things and I'm not defending their ignorance.

Was he wearing the gold replica from a few seasons ago?

Think so, think he was wearing sunglasses . Sat about 2 rows from the seperating netting, probably around row s, half way up. When i looked he just sat there shaking his head and laughing at tge abuse he was receiving

Yes our fan that got the boot had just traded a few words with the home fan I’m talking about. Then the Southampton fan continued on his way up to the back of the stand, and stand still red faced and slobbering, launched into his racist abuse with someone else further up. Our lad got chucked and he didn’t.

The earlier stuff seemed just the normal things you see every week from both of them. Just part of what happens. Funny, and for anyone with half a brain not to be taken personally. But then he overstepped the line and ironic that ours got booted.

There are a large number of racists in the world.   They come in all shapes and sizes, nationalities, religions and skin colours.

Drew - well done mate.    You witnessed a racist incident - which is a criminal offence - and had the courage to try to do something about it.  That is the only way things are going to change.  The next step is to report it formally.  Some advice is below.

Agreed mate, but in the moment with no one listening, if I’m honest, I thought why did I bother. This was a fairly safe environment where I’m sure others who kept quiet would have waded in if needed. But in a different place, although I’d still like to think I’d do the same, I realised how quickly you could find yourself in trouble. On your own not quite as bad, but with your young lad? ?‍♂️

I think what it did make me realise though was how serious being targeted individually for colour or anything else truly is. Something that although I know is wrong, I hadn’t taken seriously enough. The fear and isolation if experienced regularly must be a very lonely place. As I said earlier people get offended too easily, but maybe it’s made me realise some things are just not acceptable.

Can't f**king stand racism, fair play to you for standing up to it. As others have said, raise it with as many people as you can.

You can bet I would have overcelebrated that Maguire winner over the segregation if I was in your shoes lol

Yeah I’m sure he had the gold shirt on. Big lad who got triggered by a few of ours below as he was walking up, I think because of his size. Where do you draw the line? I’m sure it’s not great being called a fat bastard either, but that’s not illegal I guess. Although in time it possibly will be. Banning banter would be a nightmare, but what is and isn’t acceptable?

Possibly not the best thing thinking about it, but there was a bit extra.  My lad was on the netting for a couple of seconds accidentally, which was like nearly sacrificing him to the lions. I wish I had a photo of their fan’s faces at that moment. We just smiled as they left.  There is just no comeback when you’ve lost in the last minute is there? It was a lovely moment, but I did look over my shoulder a few times on leaving the ground. ?

We live in the 21st century, when I thought everybody realised that we are a human race, and are all the same barring cultural differences, and skin colours.

It works both ways, as I’m guessing these were white, but all cultures should respect one another, and not give abuse, or hatred to someone different to themselves, and they shouldn’t be allowed to live in or society, let alone a football match, well done for speaking up, but didn’t the aggrieved person complain.?

Pardon?

Not really sure where you are coming from here.

Look!!!  For all of you..   What I wrote,in intent. Was a load of crap,  the incidents though were true.

I let it run a few days..but the posters who remonstrated with me and discredited my post are 100% right...

But you see,I can walk away from them, forget the aftermath, because it doesn't peck at me.....I don't get questioned every day.

In other lands, tribal hate, and racism is still a honourable amusing pastime of the day and people's lives....

Yes some of those people/folk who come here hoped they could come to a more liberated on the street/local gov/ open life, letting them

get on with their lives as an individual person, without tribal baggage or racial tones.Still being proud of their heritage, hoping to

share and exchange, positives and negatives of their new land.Of course they want to still keep parts of their "own-fish-n-chips" culture and yes

also religious culture. Why not..since Anglo-saxons came on their own wild travels,we in Britain (Europe as a whole) have as individuals been

part of a growing,unstoppable,non-filling,bottomless..melting pot.

The funny thing is all these people sporting racist thought and remarks, come originally themselves from mixed race, every one of us in race terms are xxx parts of something of another.

Civilization and world education wise,Our empires were the last on the conveyer belt of knolwledge.Africa and Persia with their cousins, had already done it,seen it,read the book, got the tee-shirt,1000s of years 100 of last empires, before these little racist bigots were even sporned. It's actually these excuses of flesh on bone, that should be spotted, because their own total lack of recognising their own aptidude, that they are the "weakest-link" and have  long stood still

in their own evolution.

You all have seen,my posts and  should you know, what I posted was crap, and was not  from my heart..

But I as a modern day white, even overweight as never been confronted, every minute of the day, with such discrimination of hate, never gone out

Every night, knowing no matter how strong and fair I can be,there will not be one but several direct hate filled remarks stolen in my or my family's

direction and questioning my very own exsistence....

Me hitting on Southerners, was a gnats bite on a "do gooders bible backside"   plus I love everybody from every where, and when not

It's an individual and not based on location of birth...

Racism I have no idea how we errase even eradicate  it from our lives, but the original poster, and ourselves have to keep pecking,at our authorities,

within our very own, the person's and their ilk who are given responsibilities, but can't uphold or honour that responsibilty,

I suppose we just have to carry on pecking like the insistent racist bigots themselves....

From China down to Africa and 3 times around the world and back again..

Also some anti  empire slave campaigns and individuals ,good for headlines, but the worst started and is still going on back home.

Colour on colour, black on black,Asian on Asians, and yes white on white, slavery and racism is as rife as ever.

Oh and we have forgot these last 40 years, how to enjoy our football,in respecting the opposition players, and fans.

Banter has turned to actual hate....So we have, many races joining together,to go through discriminating against that

Funny and strange group on the other side of the stadium...Imagine if a few decide to stay over ,take our jobs and

even dare go out with our daughters....A fox marrying a Tree or a scouser, when will it end.....

So you see ,I have nothing against the southern folk,  if I was admist the folk of york, lancs, etc I would be a southerner....

Didn't it look great, when we became PL champions, all corners of our city celebrated,

from Indian town, through to highfields ,down to Narborough road...

Carry on pecking, don't turn a blind eye....to those that can and have contacts, get the PL clubs interested,in involving their stewards.
