Why? are we fighting?

Who's fighting and what for?

... and why has that been the gist of a post-match thread?  Put it to bed or take it outside, boys (at least to a Puel thread) ...

A good day yesterday.

We could have been down after 5 minute like last weekend but once we got to grips with the game we were very comfortable. A but fortunate they squandered a good chance before Maguire got back in time mind.  Had a good few chances before Vardys goal but we played some neat football at times.

Maguire really good and I'm no Morgan fan with other options there but he did nowt wrong yesterday. Amartey with another fine display.

Mendy and WIlf had probably their best game together this season. Maddison also impressed and is doing a lot more than I suspect Mahrez would be if he was here

We need a bit more out of the attack though. Vardy may not hit the heights of the last few years and Nachoman is not all that reliable. Getting another striker is a must above all else in January.

The main plus is that we are winning these types of games. Something we weren't doing after January. Our defence and Midfield were excellent and we got off to a positive start for once.

Has to be said that Newcastle were just wretched. Takes some going to be as bad as they were in 2015 but they managed it.

Not perfect but hard to complain with 7th. Come up with the goods next weekend and we could start to think about Europe once again.

Again why does it matter where the goals are coming from?

I would much rather score two counters and have 60+ % possession. Than score two counters and have 30% posession.

It's not just about scoring goals with the posession, it's about controlling the game and restricting the other team as well.

Personally I found it a damn site more boring watching us get dominated by teams and us surrendering the ball every 10 seconds unable to pass the ball about.

The more comfortable we get on the ball the easier we should hopefully find it to pass through teams. There was a great move against Newcastle that Ricardo put wide after some lovely passing. Hopefully we start to see more of that and can finish the moves off.

I hope you're right. It seems to me we pass it about until we get to the edge of the box and then we're stopped because the opposition has had time to get everyone back. I agree we've looked better the last 2 league games but that might be down to the quality of the opposition.

I found this interesting from WhoScored. Using statistics it tries to sum up a team's strengths and weaknesses and type of play.

LOL at "rotate their first 11" and "aggressive." One of those is definitely down to Puel lol!

Well discussing isn't really what you're doing.
You need to argument on what the others are saying to do that, not only stating opinions and saying everything else is wrong.

Is this the five minute argument or the full half hour?

A simple solution to this bickering is everyone stop with the ‘I told you so’s’ and the ‘you were/are wrongs’ after every win/loss,I’m not worried or annoyed if some one thinks Puel is doing a great job, what annoys me is the constant trying to belittle and prove each other wrong. Yes we are 7th that’s good,I ll give Puel a bit of credit here cause we don’t create an awful lot of chances but we do score a good amount of goals. We’ll win games we’ll lose games, nobody will be right or wrong,so learn to live with each other’s opinions without the attacks,I’ve seen both sides of the argument and all I can say is the Puel ins are doing exactly the same thing they are accusing the Puel outs of doing.

Another load of comments about how bad our opponents were... maybe its the way we play that makes em look that bad?

Given our last two games were against teams currently 18th and 20th in the league, I think it’s safe to say they were bad and it was an easy 6 pts for us. The real test will be against Everton.

Well......... thats true.. but, had we lost to them...we would be one point above them, so its not just easy, we make it look that way.

You can only beat the team in-front of you, we have done that 4 out of 7 times this year. We have been beaten by Liverpool  (possible champions)  and Manchester Utd, and Bournemouth away.

We were NOT bad in any of those games excluding a very messy defence against Bournemouth.

We are a good team, playing well and still adapting to a significant style change and are 7th in the league 3 points off 4th.

All excellent points and I agree with every one. Like you I'd much prefer us to control and manage matches like we did last Saturday. And I thought we played some lovely stylish football.at times. How we score goals does not matter as long as we do, whether it be by a set piece, counter or by passing through teams. I keep saying it, but if you are unhappy with our current playing style, go and watch the dross we were playing under Pleat, Levine, Megson, Bassett, Shakespere, Ranieri's second season, some of Pearson's sides, etc etc etc....

I really think some of the posters here think playstation is real football!

I do wonder if what team people grow up with has some bearing on what they expect from the team. My first memories of going down start around 87/88 just after relegation and having pleat as manager. All I knew was bottom half of division two, relegation battle and dross football.

I knew nothing of our history, to me we were just a bit crap and lost a lot. Promotion under Little felt like we'd got to the promised land, to me we'd never been there before and were playing teams I'd only seen in cup finals. Even under MON, finishing top 10 felt like an unreal achievement. I was so proud of the team to be doing even that... now it gets sneered at like it's nothing.

I was luckier than you because I grew up watching the great Jimmy Bloomfield's team. After he went it was dreadful under McLintock, and although things recovered when Jock Wallace took over, restoring some pride in the club, he soon went and then it was dreadful again until Little came in. McGee played some nice football, but he cleared off to the great Wolves. Apart from the O'Neill days, it really was hard work to support the team at times, until Pearson came, who started rebuilding the club, just as Puel is now trying to do. This is why I appreciate the work Puel is now doing. I am so pleased the owners can see the bigger picture too. The Southampton owners certainly couldn't see what he was trying to do at Southampton, although they do have Mark Hughes in now who has really improved them!

I would be highly respectful of what MON achieved with us. I have defended him over here in Ireland a lot over the 12 months. Not easy.

If you've realised that, you're honest, and fair play to you.

What a tactical masterclass from Benitez the genius.
Against a team who can't defend and coached by one the worst manager ever who has no idea what he is doing, his team had the impressive number of one shot on target (from a fringe attempt 60 meters away from the goal).
I cant' wait we fire Puel to hire him, he 's soooooo much better.

I think you need to look at the resources both mangers have had.

Rafa has always been a defensive manager. Why anyone thinks he'd be less defensive than Puel I don't know.

Good managers can make their team perform better than the sum of all its parts.
