Chilwell 2024

Great bit of business for the football club, he's improved and deserves it. Securing our key players on long contracts is very encouraging.

I know the performances and results haven’t been massively spectacular so far this season and I know Puel will never be everyone’s cup of tea because let’s face it, he’s boring and doesn’t speak very good English.

However, the work we’re doing off the pitch is seriously something .

Maguire, Chilwell, Vardy, Ndidi, Kasper & Vardy all singing new deals.

In the past 18 months, we’ve had 5 players in the England squad.

The future is bright, the future is Leicester City.

I’m confident that Claude did not conduct any of the negotiations.......

players signing long long term deals has everything to do with money and playing time - they get more money and we get a better fee if we decide to sell them .....

Wondered who would be the first negative miserable tw*t to spout this bull syite !!!

Great news.

So glad he's proving the naysayers wrong. Been obvious for a long time that he's got tonnes of potential, he just needed experience.

Good job Rudders

So how much he he on now then?

I'm assuming it's more than Luke Shaw's £190k a week seeing as he's keeping him out of the England team

We must be paying him, Ndidi, Maguire etc a huge wedge unless they’ve got release clauses for them to want to commit so long given how hardball we are with outgoings.

And it’s bullsh1t because ????????

lets see how many of the current side are still here in four years if we don’t achieve regular European football .......

players agents know we won’t sell them and they are on long contracts already. They may as well take the larger salary on offer (coupled with playing regularly) under a new deal. The club are also doing the right thing to protect their asset.  sorry if you still have a romantic view of the game at the highest level but sadly it’s moved on ..........

Good to see us doing absolutely everything we can to keep these players at the club.

Tough times ahead when the so called big clubs come calling though I suspect.

would prefer that to being florist or derby ......

its just the way it is ....... if we have to sell these guys then at least we will get a fee that also reflects the length of contract remaining.  look at the nonsense at a club like arsenal over the past couple seasons.

When did contract extensions become such an event? I’m not saying any of ours have been unwanted or not newsworthy, but all clubs are at it now with photos, hashtags and videos on social media for every contract update. It used to warrant a line in the manager’s programme notes at best.

I do get that the world moves on and fans want more from clubs, including social media. But it seems that contracts are more worthless than ever and/or contain so many negotiated clauses and conditions that promoting “a new X-year contract” is fairly meaningless. Essentially, we are celebrating a pay rise for the player.

Or maybe I’m just old and grumpy and don’t get it.

:D

What was he on before - about £20k a week?

£1m a year to £6m a year’s not a bad pay rise I guess

That was the sun though. Imo he won't be on £40k a week more than Mags reported £75k.

If he is on £115k a week I can see the harmony he talks about in the dressing room soon being toxic.

I think we all know he isn’t on anything like that. He is only 21. we aren’t a Man City who pay their youngsters ridiculous wages .....

however, we have never paid a fee for him so I guess his representatives are within their rights to ask for a healthy renewal bonus - say it was 10m payable across the six years if he stays for at least four.  if that was included in his weekly wage via reports  rather than in one go then the six figures would be a reasonable number.  Also, take into account that in five years time he would be 26 ..... is it reasonable for his salary to be on a stepped basis over the period of the contract?  Maybe the 115k is the maximum it is set to reach if he stays to see it out?

i guess what I’m saying is that it could be anything but whatever it is it’s good that the player and the club both have the security of it.........  and its even better that the player is a product of the academy !!

This is excellent news, another stand out player in our squad signed up for the long term.

He's come on absolute leaps and bounds this season and has looked much more assured defensively whilst still posing the same attacking threat. Mighty impressive in two tough away international fixtures too.
