So my thanksgiving goes way beyond that as every day I still have to remind myself we did win it.

None of us had a clue what we were getting when Vichai and Top took over the club, after  several years of uncertain future, we got the most generous and respectable owners we could have wished for. Not only transforming our club, but also embracing the local community. Thank you Vichai for everything you have done for our club and our city.

Football’s just a game. 

 

Except it’s not. It’s really ****ing not. 

 

Football is a community. People from all different backgrounds, faiths, cultures and races coming together to enjoy the beautiful game. No football club embodies that more than Leicester City. It’s more important to me than any religious faith I could choose. You can change your religion, your politics, your spouse, even disown your kids. But you cannot change your football club. 

 

That’s assigned at birth. 

 

With that community you share everything. The highs and the lows. Leicester City is a rollercoaster like no other. In my 25 years of following LCFC I’ve seen more than most football football fans put together. Promotions, relegations, three titles, 2 cup wins - all but the Premier League title I’ve witnessed us lift in the flesh. 

 

This is the darkest day for our community. 

 

I keep seeing reporters banging on about how much money Vichai pumped into the club. That is simply lazy reporting. Fakest of fake news. They neglect to mention that what really he gave us was his time, business expertise and most of all love. More than any other club owner. That’s why he’s turned us into a success. He isn’t just some faceless foreign billionaire - he’s visible, accessible, very ambitious and heavily involved. And he has become one of our own.

 

Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha made himself part of our community. He showed us nothing but respect and asked for nothing but patience and support in return.

 

This man gave me 3 of the greatest nights of my life - May 2nd 2016, May 7th 2016 and March 14th 2017. Totally unexpected, unbridled ecstasy. Tears of unbelievable joy. The latter was the best birthday I’ll ever have.

 

What happened yesterday was an absolute tragedy.

 

Thank you Vichai. Thank you for everything.

We were on top of the world for 1 or 2 seasons. Everyone was only talking about Leicester city. We are now a well established PL team with a solid base for the upcoming years. Vichai has built that. 

 

Not only that - but you invested in the fans offering free gifts at your own expense and investing heavily into the community with generous donations. 

 

Thank you for transforming our club and city, Vichai.

Everything from what’s been achieved on the pitch during his tenure is obvious, off it with the stadium and training ground expansion, his attendence at games, communication and friendly interaction with the fan base, the beers he bought on his birthday. The odd bit of free memorabilia you’d get waiting for you when you got to a game, brilliant, couldn’t ask for anymore from a owner of a football club as a fan. Then there’s money he gave to local charities as well.

 

He will be missed.

The heart of a lion, of a loving father, and of a great benefactor beat in this one man, and infused the Club and its supporters.  It made him unique in an era of grasping billionaires in sport.  Coupled with rare patience and acumen, it made the impossible become reality.

 

Though he will be remembered in the wider world for that “miracle” and his business success, Leicester will forever know and celebrate the humble, steadfast generosity of his character.

 

Perhaps the true miracles were the existence of such a man, and his selection of Leicester, city and City.

We hit the absolute jackpot with Vichai. When you look at owners of other clubs like Ashley, Kroenke, the Venkys... just makes you realise how fortunate we were to have him.

Thank you so much Vichai from the bottom of my heart... I feel sick just writing this out because not only did he give all us fans the best day we've ever had but he also contributed massively to the city as well.

I am guilty for criticising him on occasion, but his intention, and often execution of what he did for the club was excellent. Genuinely ambitious, good-natured people who've done so much for so many. I hope we find a way to remember him fondly. I probably didn't say it enough, but he did so much for us.

Truth is, no modern owner would’ve had the humility to re-hire Pearson, and have the patience and integrity to keep him when we looked so far gone. Most people would’ve looked past Ranieri, where the fans saw a fading career he saw opportunity. To give him full credit for the title win wouldn’t be correct, but you cannot fault that he did everything in his power and position to make it possible. This is our golden era and so much of it is down to Vichai and his benevolence. He’s made the club and the community a better place.

Cardiff City fan here. I dont know what to say, how to express my emotions and condolences in this post but i just know i needed to say something. 

 

Football is an irrelevance. Its only a game. We all love it. But it doesnt matter. But when tragedy hits, football becomes a community and fans of all supporters unite together. 

 

Just want to say supporters throughtout the world are with you at this shocking time. God bless and rest in peace to all sadly caught up in this. Ben.
