We were without our best forward Only Nacho, had a stinker for us Kaspers kicking was crap Our defenders all performed well. Son who is Spurs second choice striker, would walk into our team. it was exactly what I expected. Its gone, move on. Son is not spurs second choice striker... He is a wide player and probably the third name that goes on that team sheet each week (behind kane and eriksen) and would walk in to almost any team.

The truth of it is our recent form has been rubbish. We are playing some of the most lethargic, boring, tedious football I've ever seen. Are we supposed to look forward to watching that crap? We will soon be in the bottom half and falling if this continues. A scrappy away win and a draw here and there is all we have to look forward to. I understand the frustration with the performances and lack of entertainment value, nobody is happy to watch what we saw tonight, but the league position is really the benchmark by which we can judge the success or failure of a manager or team. We are 9th, about par, or a smidge above par I would've thought. We have been in the bottom three with Pearson, Ranieri and Shakespeare.

Frankanddad Posted 8 December 2018 Posted 8 December 2018 We were poor tonight, our passing was off Mendy and Ndidi are too similar for me. Need a player to break out of midfield to support Nacho / Vardy. Time to call Harvey back?
Deebhoy Posted 8 December 2018 Posted 8 December 2018 Spurs were bigger, fitter, technically better, had a better shape and tactically were miles ahead. Taking a striker off and replacing him with a winger to bring on two winger was poor. A mid-table team if we're lucky.
Blue ROI Posted 9 December 2018 Posted 9 December 2018 We didn't actually play that bad but just in attack we were ineffective. I wouldn't fault the effort of the team. Disappointing to lose but whatever we think of spurs they have spent a few years getting to that level of consistency. It could take us a while to get there. Not nice to lose but would be harsh to throw the toys out of the pram over tonight.
lcfcbobby Posted 9 December 2018 Posted 9 December 2018 Well we defiantly need to sort out our strikers in January! I would rather give Raul uche a chance then any other option we have at the moment if vardy can't play! Ihanacho is just useless slimani not cut out for prem and as much as I like okazaki he just can't score! We need to cut our losses and sell all 3 and find another option! Only problem is I don't know who would be worth while signing that's not going to have us ripped off again!

Other than Burnley at home, who we should have destroyed but for the occasion, we've always scored and looked like scoring. Nothing even close tonight. Unless we had a late rally after I switched off when it was 2-0. We had more shots on target than they did plus their 2nd goal was offside so they actually only had 1 shot on target themselves. Ghezzal hit 2 on target after you switched off.

Do you think we deserve to be? Do you honestly believe we will stay there? I really don't. Other teams are finding form and we are going backwards.

It also had Mahrez who from Puel's appointment until his episode in late January was playing some excellent football. He's now gone. He didn't work with a colossus in Huth. The great team finished in 2016/17 when it played appallingly in virtually every away game until March and didn't looking like scoring for two months. Puel is mediocre, average, uninspiring but he's not worked with a great team. Agreed, but he's had enough money in the close season to do something about it and apart from Maddison brought no one better than we already had.
Bunyip Posted 9 December 2018 Posted 9 December 2018 42 minutes ago, Foxboy said: This once great team? when exactly were we great? The season we won the league was a one off and weve lost 3 of our stand out players from that season. Puel has had one summer of transfers where he had no choice but to sell mahrez and obviously was not going to find a direct replacement for him. You have to give him time to build a team that suits his style. Why cant we beat palace? Right so who apart from Maddison who has he brought that was any better than we already had ?

Not just tonight, since day 1 of fraud Puel’s reign Draws against teams who we should be beating, being celebrated by Puel in’ners - how are you polishing the turd tonight? Above all, the tempo every week is slow... That is the managers plan, he’s been here long enough, that has to be his plan. Spurs didn’t have to break sweat. We are at home for f*** sake and they didn’t need to work for it. No pressing, no tempo in build up. We are a nice team to play against. This is the start of a bad run, we couldn’t win in the easier period. Puel out How long is this f####king clown going to get. embarrassing beyond belief.

It’s happened too many times now - tonight he turned his back on the play to have a go at him and they were attacking - it’s unprofessional In danger of believing his own hype. He also started waving his arms about tonight whenever someone didn’t manage to get on to one of his utterly rubbish crosses. I mean surely someone can read the intention of missing every blue shirted player and meet the ball
NaijaFox Posted 9 December 2018 Posted 9 December 2018 2 hours ago, Corky said: He is right. Ulloa and Slimani are not the answers. We are desperate for a younger version of Vardy. They answered more questions than the dross we currently have.

Not quite fair, Ricardo is an upgrade on Simpson, Evans Soy and Benkovic are all better than aged and injured Huth and Benaloune, where the the recruitment team (Puel doesn’t buy the players) didn’t succeed was to replace Mahrez - and we weren’t ever going going to get a like for like replacement but I’d have liked for something more than Ghezzal, fact is we lost a player that contributed to 40% of our goals that’s always going to have an affect, very much a work in progress to fix that id say
Bunyip Posted 9 December 2018 Posted 9 December 2018 30 minutes ago, kingfox said: For 44 minutes I had no complaints, we were in the game, Spurs though suddenly started to knock it around with more tempo and they undone us thanks to a wonder goal. But as I said what did fans expect tonight? We've seen already this season when Iheanacho has to lead the line on his own we are crap, without Vardy we are pretty much relegation fodder. Without Vardy for the first half against Brighton we were shit, he came on and changed the game. Without Vardy against Fulham we were shit, luckily we managed to scrape a draw. Without Vardy my expectations were seriously low tonight, I fully expected a loss, I fully expected a frustratingly poor performance, that's what we got. Fans get frustrated but at the end of the day what do we expect, when we have to rely on Iheanacho, Gray and Okazaki to lead our line. We expect a manager to understand and rectify all the problems that you have quite rightly pointed out. I don't expect him too though.
fazzyfox Posted 9 December 2018 Posted 9 December 2018 We gave Liverpool much more of a game than Spurs tonight, was it just Maguire being the difference? We lost that too but they were never in cruise control against us and they're a couple of notches above Spurs.
Gazza3 Posted 9 December 2018 Posted 9 December 2018 Last 2 team selections from management have been odd very poor what do they do all week we are a poor side who don’t win very often really frustrating and I don t understand team selection
ForeverandEver Posted 9 December 2018 Posted 9 December 2018 I think the problem goes further back than today. If you look at the the Swansea Game last year (Teamsheet attached) where we we looked doomed - we had some real characters that dragged us out. Eventually. The truth is we just haven’t strengthened. Without Mahrez, Vardy, Drinkwater we don’t appear to have any real game plan. With Puel nobody knows what he’s thinking and that’s the frustration- he doesn’t seem to connect with the fans due to his quiet nature and unpredictability. I think he is a good manager and it really showed when Southampton Played Man Utd in the League Cup a couple of years back. The Saints looked so pumped up for it & that was down to Puel. Playing Simpson last week was crazy though - it’s like winning a £1million in the casino - you wouldn’t go back and risk it all! Goodnight.
Gazza3 Posted 9 December 2018 Posted 9 December 2018 After recent performances explain nacho selection and diabetes on wed ?????
Larry_LCFC Posted 9 December 2018 Posted 9 December 2018 The bottom line is, we are always going to be expected to lose against the top 6. I would rather therefore throw the kitchen sink at them and go down playing some exciting football than just setting up defensively and then rolling over anyway like we did today. You never know, if we attack them, we might score. What a novel idea.
