Just seen on linked in from Knight Frank. Apols if this is already posted.

Bet it's more flats. I guess anything better than the current shabby state.

Would have been nice to been made into some reference to LCFC.

Could extend the car park and use the car park next to the stadium as part of the planned expansion although doesn't go with the "exciting development" quote.

I suppose the fact that it's been announced as 'former Leicester City Ground' rather than just land could be a positive- maybe the buyer will make something of it.

It's just marketing, not really going to say baron wasteland recently used as a car park.

It's a shame the car park got closed down, was very useful. Im sure the residents that campaigned for it to be shut will be more than happy with an official lcfc car park or heaving fan zone though.

If it's flats it would be nice if they built them with the history of the place in mind. I may be mistaken but I seem to remember the flats build on the former highbury site has kept the history of the place really well.

From wasteland to many years to more 'fan land'?

Get annoyed when seeing that ugly student accommodation hanging around the site.

Could've been built for something most of the community can use.

Yeah, they did a great job there. The flats are built where the stands used to be, and the pitch space a communal garden I believe. The art deco facade of the East(?) stand was left standing and forms a part of the new buildings. It's commendably done.

Unfortunately, ol' Filbert Street wasn't quite as nice as Highbury, bless it.

We'd end up with flats built out of what was left of the Carling Members Enclosure, some corrugated iron and the remnants of the old burger concession in the corner.

Flats. It's always flats.

It usually is, but you never know maybe they will do something like Highbury Square at the old Arsenal stadium which is really nicely done and still keeps a lot of the character of the old ground.

Filbert Street these days is depressing to look at when you walk past it on the way up to the stadium, so anything happening is positive IMO.

There was a delay in the sale after fragments of fossilised bone were found in the soil. Archaeologists were brought in and after extensive research they have declared it to be bits of David Geddis's jaw.

Anything is probably better than the shithole state that it's in now lol.

Bound to be flats or some kind of accommodation, Wouldn't surprise me if the uni have had some say for student accommodation.

We are the new owners of the Filbert Street site.

We are looking to provide a high quality development on this site and we are putting together some plans that we are very excited about. As part of the design we are looking to integrate various nods to the old Filbert Street Football Ground, referencing the importance and memories of Leicester City fans who ever had the pleasure of seeing our team win (not always of course) at this hallowed ground.

One of these nods is to integrate the old iconic members stand turnstile into the sites proposed development. The turnstiles were constructed in the 1920's along with the members stand (along with the pigeon loft on the roof for the journo's) and stood until 1993 when the old members stand and the turnstiles were demolished to make way for the Carling Stand. Where the turnstiles once stood, the Leicester City FC shop and Fosse restaurant were located as it wrapped around the corner.

We believe this would be a great way of recognizing the sites history and would welcome any information that anyone has on the turnstiles, rumor has it that the original stone work is located in a builders yard somewhere, it would be great if we could locate the original stonework and use this but if we are unable to do so we will ensure a replica of very quality is constructed and located on the site.

Any information relating to the location would be very welcome, please contact [email protected].

Incorporating the old entrance would be good but not impressed with the rest of it. Just a mass of red brick set in a mostly rectangular block.

May seem a daft question but is that the original?. Anyway, a very good idea.
