Pleat the worst by far as he was long term hopeless and given loads of time to be hopeless.Very much a Puel type.It was like a revolution when he and Shipman got the boot.
Mendi Posted 24 February 2019 Posted 24 February 2019 Well done Top making the call. It was coming sadly this decision. Get in Harry Redknapp till end of the season. Tony Cottee calling for him on sky.
Lookatthebluesky Posted 24 February 2019 Posted 24 February 2019 He had to go. The relationship between him and the players was done. It was telling yesterday that when the players gathered on the sideline to take drinks when Sako was injured, Puel walked away from the group. At the end, those fans that stayed still applauded the players after yet another awful home performance and the end for Puel was sealed. He’s not got the personality to engage with the fan base so when poor results come along, he was always going to be under pressure. I am glad to see the back of him & cannot wait for a more positive approach on Tuesday. We’ll get 3 points for sure now he’s gone & Vardy will be fired up to score.

Off the pitch, Puels done a good job, cleared out those that are past it and the deadwood from previous regimes. Needs someone to come in and finish the restructuring off while producing on the pitch (because if we never had to play a game and it was always preseason, Claude would be one of our most popular managers ever). What are you talking about? The dead wood you refer to won the Premier League by ten points and ran Atlético Madrid very close in a Champions League Quarter Final less than two years ago. Yes that’s right a CLQF in April 2017!! That is a marvellous inheritance for any manager - and while the team needed renewal and improvement it did not need the wholesale changes diagnosed....it’s this unprecedented act of “self harm” - taking a club side at the absolute summit of its historical achievements and deciding to tear it all down in the name of a footballing philosophy that is what has brought about the downfall of two managers and the complete waste of a huge footballing inheritance..
StriderHiryu Posted 24 February 2019 Posted 24 February 2019 The right decision. Loved what he tried to do with bringing youth team players through but 4 games against Palace with an aggregate score of 13-1 says it all. I expect a caretaker with Rogers coming in during the summer.

Which players from that team do you think should still be playing for the first team?

I agree, it WAS the right idea, and a conclusion of “cos he is sh*t" is childish and not helpful for future judgements on managerial appointments. On the flip side, he did need to go, he had clearly affronted the universe, his luck (or sabotage if that’s to you preference) was tragic
