Brace yourself, a SportsWitness article about us maybe signing a Sporting CP player....

Leicester City make contact to sign 19 year old midfielder, free agent in the summer

Lucas Sposito11th March 2019

Leicester City have reportedly made the first contacts for the signing of Nuno Moreira from Portuguese side Sporting.

It’s newspaper Record who reports it this Monday, claiming the Foxes are interested in signing the midfielder as a free agent in the summer.

But as you can see in the image attached below, Leicester City are not alone in the race. They face the competition from Celta Vigo, Genoa and especially West Ham.

The Hammers are said to be the club who are the ‘closest’ on signing the player, as they seem to have gone a little bit further than the other clubs in the race, but Leicester aren’t ruled out.

Capturar-23-300x209.pngNuno Moreira is still in Sporting’s academy, and his lack of chances in the first team would be one of the reasons for him to leave.

Sporting want to keep him, but face obstacles.

Leicester City may have to put in a better financial offer than their Premier League rival.

Sporting have one of Europe's best academies and Portugal is Europe's best gateway for talent moving to the big leagues.

You'd have to be an idiot to not want us to scout and recruit from Portugal.

We might have gotten it wrong so far but that's on us.

I said no more Sporting. Porto and Benfica are by far the bigger and better clubs. We signed one Porto player and within a few weeks he was our best player. We sign 2 Sporting and I'm still taking gaviscon.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Quaresma, Luis Figo, Joao Moutinho, Joao Mario, Eric Dier, Miguel Veloso, Nani, Rui Patricio, William Carvalho all their academy graduates.

Not one of which would go to Leicester. They're also mostly old players. Their academy is a bit of a shambles at the moment.

If we’d have signed him we’d have probably played him at centre back.

That's a bit roundabout. You don't know their younger graduates because they haven't made proper names for themselves yet. Plus a lot of their talent is bought right away, so you wouldn't know they were Sporting graduates.
