leicsmac Posted 13 September 2019 Posted 13 September 2019 And something else. How the hell does Smith miss nothing on his pads? I mean, every single batsman eventually misses one that goes straight, but not him. How?

Missing absolutely nothing in that way isn't just being a genius, perfection like that is not exactly human IMO. Guess this is how a lot of people felt 90 years ago watching Bradman arriving in the Test arena.

leicsmac Posted 13 September 2019 Posted 13 September 2019 Just now, purpleronnie said: Ok he's an alien then. I was being a little facetious there. But every sportsman has a technical weakness that can be exploited, it's just a matter of finding it.
Finnegan Posted 13 September 2019 Posted 13 September 2019 Has any batsman failed for a whole series as badly as Warner has in this ashes in recent memory? Unbelievable to go from the form he was in in the WC to this. I know different formats but still, he's an experienced test cricketer.

Only batsman in history to make 8 single figure scores in a 5 test series (note he still has another innings in which to extend that record). Absolutely laughably bad. If you ignore his 61 (his only double figure score) then he averages 2.87.

The BBC feed earlier they said the worst-ever 10-innings test score for an opening batsman was John D'Arcy back in 1958 who scored 136 total. Warner has 84 with one innings to go...
EastAnglianFox Posted 13 September 2019 Posted 13 September 2019 You just watch though when New Zealand and Pakistan tour Australia in the winter just our luck that Smith will be Meh and average about 40.
RowlattsFox Posted 13 September 2019 Posted 13 September 2019 what are the chances of Mitchell marsh getting a hundred again Incredible consistency from Smith against England.

From the BBC Cricket thread Willgoose: Has anyone checked that Steve Smith isn’t a robot? The only way to get him out might be pouring water over him to see if he short-circuits.
leicsmac Posted 13 September 2019 Posted 13 September 2019 ....and then when he does make a mistake, Fate lets him get away with it. I tell you, the cvnt is a cosmic plaything.

Just settled down with a glass of red to watch the evening session and very first ball he has done exactly this
surrifox Posted 13 September 2019 Posted 13 September 2019 Hoping to see Jofra giving Lyon some brown trousers
Osavo Posted 13 September 2019 Posted 13 September 2019 What a catch Rory Burns! Now let's make the most of this handy lead.
Silebyfox_89 Posted 13 September 2019 Posted 13 September 2019 i think we can all agree Curran should have been selected earlier in the series!
purpleronnie Posted 13 September 2019 Posted 13 September 2019 Incredible catch at the end there...brilliant!

Easy to say that now, but in place of who? Woakes had a brilliant summer, did nothing wrong in the first test and for some reason barely used in the second.
