There's a difference between talking cricket and sledging someone about their personal life - ask Bairstow. De Kock did the same to Warner and he lost the plot. And he asked the Australian Cricket Board to get involved

The Aussies calling Stokes 'Bristol'. And Smith telling Denly he only scored runs because the pressure is off. All while the CA CEO complains about English fans booing their players. Matter of time before they all end up in tears on the telly again, why is it always Australia? 😂😂😂 I assume that Wade has been selected for the quality of his sledging , I can’t think of any other reason 😂
leicsmac Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 Tied series it probably is then - not a bad outcome, but I think both sides have really been relying on a few outstanding individual performances (Smith, Stokes, Cummins, Archer) rather than outplaying the other side as a team, and Aus just had one individual who was more outstanding in terms of altering the match.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 Bairstow isn’t even the best keeper in the team let alone the country.

Izzy Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 Just wanna say I've really enjoyed this thread during the Ashes, one of the best on FT. Some great posters on here with some excellent insights.

TheSomersetFox Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 Thanks for coming Dave, you've been ****ing crap
Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 Broad to Warner is the new McGrath to Atherton.
Brainy Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 Has Warner batted with Smith this series? And has he faced an over of spin? Maybe in his 61?
Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 Wow a plan finally worked! Great catch, glad he got the applause he deserved. That should be that!

purpleronnie Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 Why couldn't it have rained more in Manchester?
Corky Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 Is it really that difficult to get some part of the foot behind the line? Just no excuse.

EastAnglianFox Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 I understand why Leach has become a bit of a likeable cult hero but he's not a great bowler is he He says just as he takes a wicket ffs 😂
Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 Root taking same wickets than Leach is a worry
Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 Yes then Jack Can’t grumble at the Australians retaining the Ashes; we could’ve nicked it had we another session at Lords. Smith the difference, supported ably by Cummins and Hazlewood who gave us nothing. Good to keep them from winning the series here mind, 18 years and counting! All in all a pretty decent summer for us.

All in all a pretty decent summer for us. Agreed. In some ways it feels like an opportunity missed but getting out of it with that home record in tact is pleasing enough. Especially considering we were without Jimmy for the entire Summer. Burns and Archer big positives. Leach has been a don. Seen a lot brilliant cricket and won the World Cup. Plenty for us to work on Post-Bayliss but it's been a good Summer.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 So we drew the World Cup final but won it and drew the Ashes series but lost it. I love cricket.
ScouseFox Posted 15 September 2019 Posted 15 September 2019 root contributing more to the series with the ball than the bat, leach contributing more with the bat than the ball. superb stuff.
