For footballing reasons I’d only renew him if he took a serious pay cut. But I can see KP giving him a new deal to appease fans as it will be a popular decision among many. I have to say I don’t think he’s top PL level anymore, but for the right price it’s a no brainier to have him next season.

Someone said as much on here.

Van Nistelrooy came out post-match and said dragging him at HT was tactical.

I bet some words were exchanged.

This could mark the end for RvN then. Vardy has got rid of many a manager.

Think this will take more than a Vardy strop, the bloke is on one of the worst runs in the pl of all time only topped by McCarthy 20 losses from 24 and Paul jewel 15 losses from 17

I did wonder where RvN was placed among that lot. He hasn’t helped himself, but this squad is atrocious. Most would have been sacked a month ago when we still had half a chance (mathematically), so I can only assume we can’t afford to sack him?

I struggle to think of one decision the club have got right since Enzo left.

£140k for Vardy is the same in amortisation as a £15m striker and £80k.

Eduoard has cost us more this year than Vardy has.

Maybe, but is any of that a good thing financially?

Like I say, I would keep Vardy in a heartbeat but it feels like the time is right.

I’d like to know ASAP so I can sell my tickets to the final home game. Literally the only reason I’m keeping them is if he were to retire.

Going to possibly need at least 2 or 3 new strikers in the summer if Daka also leaves

Would rather keep him on a reasonable contract

No chance is he still on £140k anyway when he has signed 2 new contracts in the last 2 years including one that was based on a season of us in the Championship

We’re signing Adebayo from Luton

Simply cannot believe what I’m reading from most of you on here. How on earth can you not see he’s nowhere NEAR good enough anymore. He’s a legend , our greatest ever but he’s too old

now. It happens to all players. If he stays it just means another year before we find someone to replace him.

We are crying out for someone physical, who can run the channels, hold it up, run in behind. Whilst Vardy is here and captain, we ain’t finding that striker we so badly need to move forward.

Wish he’d left us at the end of last season. He deserved to go out on a high.

He could be 25 but if he’s getting no service whatsoever then it doesn’t matter how old he is. He actually can still run the channels and run in behind when the ball passes the halfway line. Holding the ball up has never been his game.

Oh God I ****ing hope not.

He makes Daka look like Messi!

He had a run for a few games in the prem where I thought he looked ok. But he hasn’t half dropped off.

He absolutely does not run the channels and that is one (of many) reasons we don’t create any chances. He is part of the problem. Imagine how different things might be if we had a Delap up front for instance. These are the kind of players we are missing out on, because we can’t let go of Vardy.

We don’t create any chances because we have a midfield which is devoid of any attacking skill. Neither Ndidi nor Soumare can be relied upon to even carry the ball for a few yards before getting dispossessed because of dallying on the ball, or providing an accurate pass before losing control of the ball. Ipswich have a much better midfield who play balls up to Delap. He  wouldn’t score if he had our midfield.

Liam Delap's overrated because he looks nice carrying the ball. He only has 2 more goals from open play than Vardy and 1 less assist. I'd bet on even this version of Vardy to get more over the rest of the season, sadly his finishing has been wank which is the only reason he hasn't had more up to now.

Yes I totally agree. As I said, Vardy’s lack of movement (not his fault, he’s 38 ffs) is ONE OF the reasons we don’t create chances. Add to that two shit full backs who play like crabs, a central midfield full of workhorses who mostly don’t care (Soumare I’m looking at you) , a Manager’s refusal to play any wingers and that’s why. If we had Delap or someone similar, I can guarantee you we would be a bit harder to player against because he would stretch defenders and open up gaps. It isn’t Vardy’s fault but we need to let go and move on.

He’s a future England striker. Wait and see.

Vardy’s about the only enjoyable thing about watching LCFC at the moment. Keep.

I would say, in about 5 out of the last 7 games he has had a big chance in the first half of every game, would they have changed the games?  Maybe

We couldn't afford that luxury of them not going in as a limited squad scrabbling a few weeks ago for survival, they had to be finished.

Legend as he is, along with other 101 stupid actions Top & Rudkin have taken over the last 3-5 years.

Seriously WHO comes into the FPL with a 38 year old striker as you main source of goals, when he scored 4 in the top flight in his last full season & Daka as back up.  Thats not a setting you up for success approach.
