Corky Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 Seeing a lot of Liverpool fans tweeting and commenting about how all this money is ruining the game. Didn't complain when the money stopped Man United winning the league in 2012, did they? It affects everyone.
Fightforever Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 The Pl really does need some sort of salary cap watford are one of the decent pl teams as well
ScouseFox Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 quite simply sensational to watch. the greatest football team of all time.
fazzyfox Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 They need to win a Champions League but then again a few teams win the occasional champions league, to be truly special and out on a new level win it and then retain it, so at least two more years. Until then aside from the Liverpool challenge on the league they are domestically flat track bullies. I really wanted to see them in a big Champions League game vs a Barcelona or Madrid and find out what Pep truly believes is his strongest side for such a match (even taking in consideration the horses for courses logic).

But I agree with what you’re implying. And Man City as good as they are, they are just a club bankrolled to the tune of 1 billion plus over the last 10 years. Personally it’s one of the reasons I really like our strategy of developing players from the academy. If you just go out and pay the best manager the most money and buy him the best players sure you win but you’ve just proved cash is king. Sad to see a score line like this just 3 years after the best underdog story in football!

VLC86 Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 I feel sorry for Elton, It’s not like him to miss someone getting violated.

For me it just reflects the sad state of the English PL and it's total imbalance. It’s stilly an exciting league to watch…. Things ebb and flow, but, it’s going to be dictated by cheque books now, as opposed to managers with a vision and an eye for talent luckily for us, we seem well set... other teams will feel differently…. A sadder state of affairs from their perspective

fazzyfox Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 I did love it when the Sheiks arrived and the club bloodied Chelsea's nose be signing Robinho after Chelsea had been buying trophies but now..... I'd say it's a case of be careful what you wish for rather than better the devil you know, I Accept you need a big squad to compete on all fronts so go on, do it in Europe then, don't falter vs Spurs (you can tell I was rooting for them that night as I thought they were "our" (English clubs) best chance.

Didn't complain when the money stopped Man United winning the league in 2012, did they? It affects everyone. Never mind the fact that a huge reason for their success is that they managed to con £140 million out of Barcelona for Coutinho which was only a possibility because of the insane levels of money being thrown around by oil rich states. Without that they’d not have at least one of van Dijk or Allison and would be nowhere near the league title. All of the big sides benefit to some extent from this crazy money going round. The teams losing out from Manchester City’s extraordinary wealth aren’t Liverpool or Spurs - teams that qualify for Europe season after season and can keep their very best players more often than not - it’s teams in the rest of the league whose only hope in beating these super-charged sides is to sit 10 men behind the ball and hope to pinch one on the break, knowing full well that any concerted period of achievement is beyond their grasp because they will be raided by the big 6 at the first opportunity. Football is a totally different sport to what it was even 10 years ago and there’s only six clubs in the UK benefiting from that. Only a matter of time until they set out on their own.

Sat with the Mancs mate. Good craic tbh and a decent bunch of fans imo. I sensed their view of Mahrez performance was that he was pretty average really. I thought he did ok but in a team of superstars he just doesn’t stand out like he did for us.
AKCJ Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 Am I being a bit of a Grandad when I say that it's shit that Guardiola turns up to an FA Cup final in a jumper and jeans? Suit surely?

LCFCtotheprem Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 Interested to know, would you want what has happened to Man City happen to Leicester in terms of just spending ridiculous amounts and ending up losing the soul of the club in return of trophies?

How do you measure if Man City have ‘lost the soul of the club?’ There were loads of old boys there today who’d obviously followed them when they were shit and now they’re enjoying the good times. Cant blame the fans and they’re living the dream atm and loving their domination over Utd after years of being in thier shadow. Good luck to them I say and anyone who says otherwise is probably a bit jealous...

Obviously I’m jealous of their success, my point is the way they have won them may take some of the joy out of winning them

I don’t think they give a rats ass about the money behind thier success. As far as they’re concerned, Pep has assembled a team that plays wonderful football and wins trophies for them. And the fact Man Utd are shit atm makes it a double whammy. Man City aren’t the only team in the world with money so maybe we should just doff our cap and give them a bit of credit really..
Wymsey Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 Wasn't expecting that, but well played to Man City to be honest. However, really hope that result is s one-off as thats not what football should be about - especially in a cup final..
oxford blue Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 Was VAR available today, as i was in earlier rounds? I thought the handball by Kompany would have been referred, as well as the first goal which was close to being offside (Watford fans thought it was offside but ir wasn't

Our defence is pretty ropey at the best of times - let alone against a side playing like that or being allowed to perform as such. Shame for us really - the fans were excellent but that is 2 unwanted records we have now in a typically poor end to the season. We had the odd chance or two but really just seemed to give City too much space and time - naturally their quality took advantage. We were that bad or City so good?
Paninistickers Posted 18 May 2019 Posted 18 May 2019 What an extraordinary lack of class, again, by MCFC. After raping Burton 9-0, there was no need for humiliating a team. The reaction of Watford fans was what football is all about. Not vulgar Arabs just buying whatever they want.
