koop. Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 Oh Danny boy! Chelsea name a ridiculous amount of subs last night, 11 or 12? And Danny Drinkwater still cant get on the bench. Who ever advised him to move was purely thinking about his pocket Drinkwater clearly thought he was either better than he is or just fancied collecting some money and couldnt be bothered to play anymore Why do players suddenly decide to collect wages over playing football? Baffles me
Woodsey1727 Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 I think it was a case of his agent getting him the move and drinkwater thinking he was good enough to play, which you can't fault his belief in himself
Fox92 Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 Why would he reject Chelsea to stay at Leicester? Chelsea offer him European football every season and the chance to win trophies. Yeah, in hindsight, it didn't work but every player takes a chance when they move clubs. People said the same thing about Kante when he left but it worked out for him. Either way, just let it go. He's not our player or our problem anymore.

Kante was clearly good enough to mix with the best, but Danny was always taking a chance. I think he knew it too. If he didn't, he should by now.

Baffles me It's not really that baffling that he decided to leave Leicester for Chelsea, is it? He was approaching the prime of his career having just experienced a title and then Champions League football, rightly concluded he was unlikely to get any more of either by staying here and accepted an offer to join the current champions. With the benefit of hindsight it's not worked out brilliantly for him for whatever reason, but it's a short career. I don't blame him at all for taking the chance to win some more trophies and probably double his earnings in the process.

HankMarvin Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 522 min pl football 26m contract 35m fee £116,858.237 per min
TJB-fox Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 Still banging on about Danny Drinkwater I see. Left us for a bigger club on a bigger wage to play in Europe, that’s pretty normal. All after helping to take us from the championship to the Premier League champions and Champions league. He was fantastic here. Not quite sure why some fans seem to enjoy him not playing much for Chelsea, he was a great servant at the club who we made 35(?) million pound profit on.
Izzy Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 Forget Drinky, I'll tell you two footballers who just collect their wages: Mezut Ozil & Alexis Sanchez £15 million each a year, and neither of them look bothered to me.
PAULCFC Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 Alex Sanchez is a weird one.Ripped us apart and got a hat trick a couple of years ago...........moved to Manu..........Nothing?

Baffles me They was allowed to name up to 12 subs just like Arsenal was and it will be the same for Liverpool and Spurs on Saturday as well Chelsea needed English players plus the talk was he could go there and form the partnership with Kante again which was not a outrageous thing to think that could happen at the time but injuries stopped that from originally happening then a new manager comes in and doesn’t like him, how’s that his fault the idea that someone is just collecting a wage because the manager refuses to pick him is hardly fair on him for me players that just collect wages are players who clearly don’t put any effort in despite being given chances to show it Just look at Ozil or alexis Sanchez or you could even look closer to home at iheanacho
Brainy Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 Call me weird but I would happily choose a career in collecting +100k p/w to not play football than playing football for 25k

Sanchez is still a good player. I watched him closely against us earlier this season, the 0-1 home defeat, he's still a good player. Just obviously hasn't contributed in terms of goals that you'd expect, especially with that kind of money he's reportedly on.
HankMarvin Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 DD gets a lot of stick BUT If this is true, what i stumbled across earlier 016-2020 CONTRACT:5 yr(s) / £23,400,000 SIGNING BONUS- AVERAGE SALARY£4,680,000 in 2016 he signed a 5 year deal on 90k a week So HE only gained 540k a year increase basically done us a favour

dnewty Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 No where near as bad as the players mentioned above but Andy King has to be in this category, I know he's been good around the training ground and played well in the championship days. But lets face it he has sat on that contract he was given big time when he should have moved on.
Voll Blau Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 Such a weird obsession some of our fans have with sticking the boot in to certain ex-players at any opportunity. The bloke made a couple of bad life choices, and he's now facing the consequences. It happens in all walks of life. No wonder he fancied "just collecting wages" down there given some of the nobbers we apparently have for fans.

Have a word with yourself mate Is this the same Andy King who probably would have made the Swansea loan permanent had they not been relegated? Y'know, that same Andy King who played for Derby last season? Andy King the mercenary... said no one ever
Samilktray Posted 30 May 2019 Posted 30 May 2019 Being paid to be a footballer but not actually playing football is probably my dream job
