Oh Danny boy!

Chelsea name a ridiculous amount of subs last night, 11 or 12? And Danny Drinkwater still cant get on the bench.

Who ever advised him to move was purely thinking about his pocket

Drinkwater clearly thought he was either better than he is or just fancied collecting some money and couldnt be bothered to play anymore

Why do players suddenly decide to collect wages over playing football?

Baffles me

Essentially you were allowed to name your European squad on the bench last night.

Drinky was not named in any Chelsea squad this season.

End of thread. After all this shouldn't come as a shock as original squads were named in August last year lol

Call me weird but I would happily choose a career in collecting +100k p/w to not play football than playing football for 25k

Hello Conrad welcome to the forum

So many steal a living and I’m not talking drinkwater or Andy king.

look at the drivel we’ve signed in the last few years. Then we’ve apparebtly got rashford about to be offered 350k per week and lingard on 140k per week. Wow just wow

Sanchez has been stealing a living for the last few years... happy to do nothing and just collect 600k a week

I can only imagine the level of understanding he'd be shown if he dared to admit he wasn't happy.

What’s to be unhappy about? He can either take an obscene amount of money every week to play FIFA and watch TV, or he can request a transfer. Not really ‘Sophie’s choice’ lol

Drinkwater, my least favourite title winner. I struggled hard to warm to him. Not really bothered about his non existent playing career atm.

Just heard that Ross McCormack (he who was bummed out at Villa for not going to training because his front gates wouldn’t open - and has been out on loan ever since to Australia!) will now collect £70k a week because Villa were promoted!

Not bad if you can get it!

No where near as bad as the players mentioned above but Andy King has to be in this category, I know he's been good around the training ground and played well in the championship days. But lets face it he has sat on that contract he was given big time when he should have moved on.

Fair play to King.. League 1, Championship and Premiership titles. What else is he going to do? hes already massively over achieved he deserves a cigar and slippers for rest of his career.. i would have done the same as there must be absolutely no drive to do anything else with his playing career.

So madly rich versus crazy stupid rich…. You’re still really rich either way!

call me crazy I’d rather experience playing a game I loved in front for thousands of people each week…. And then have the memories  and stories for the grandchildren!

i enjoy my job (most of the time) and never take it for granted….   I have also experienced periods of my career where I have earned more , but, been bored and frustrated…. I know which I’d rather do!

I think you view on Drinky is a little harsh. Why would he not go and double his wage. They came in for him obviously things have changed and he's been injured.

I'm sure Drinky would rather be playing but Chelsea put him on a wage no one can afford. Just like we've fvcked ourselves with slim and Silva.

Would you move for half the money?

Maybe a thread on "Clubs that collect players" would be more appropriate.

If you sign for a club and they don't play you it's hardly your fault unless you're not putting in the effort.

Chelsea would win that accolade..

It's quite pure greed of them to keep many youngsters under their noses (around 30 out on loan?) with many unlikely to feature for their own first-team at all.

Ignoring the specific example you gave as others have covered that.

Why should it matter if a player is moving exclusively for money? There are plenty of footballers who don't actually enjoy their profession that much - Danny Rose being the prime example, but there will be plenty of others - so why shouldn't they aim to maximise their salaries wherever possible, even if that means reduced play-time?

Forget Drinky, I'll tell you two footballers who just collect their wages:

Mezut Ozil & Alexis Sanchez

£15 million each a year, and neither of them look bothered to me.

Can you believe Sanchez has more assists than Ozil this season. lol

His career go down the shitter? I forgot having obscene amounts of money fixes everything.

Not checked myself I seen on Twitter that Josh King has out scored Rashford the last 4 seasons and Trent alexander-Arnold got more assists last season then lingard has in his entire premier league career

Find that difficult to understand personally, absolutely love each one of the players that won us the title, especially the XI that started most games.
