Good luck to him, I wouldn't ever begrudge him a penny. Would always give him a standing ovation whoever he came back with. A breath of fresh air in modern day football.

Man City would require a consistent fee for Mahrez, no chance to let him leave for free.

Does anyone know if we would be due a % cut of any fee Man City received for Mahrez? I presume we would be.

The links to Scott Parker made me search to see what Garry Parker went on to do, didn't realise he went on to be Lennon's assistant at Celtic, Bolton, Hibernian and Omonia (He appears to still be there despite Lennon being sacked).

You probably know Gordon McQueen passed away this week. The story of his battle with dementia is pretty harrowing, and the obituaries in the media this week have all said what a great character he was. 

 

There is one incident from his career that has not been mentioned - and indeed has been almost totally forgotten, although probably not by former Leicester striker Peter Eastoe, who played for us in two brief spells in 1983/84 and 1984/85 on loan from West Brom.

 

McQueen and Eastoe came up against each other in the game at Filbert Street in November 1983.  In the first half, Eastoe was hurt following a challenge between the two of them, but despite the presence of Gary Lineker on the bench (himself returning from injury), he battled on. Then came the moment when, completely off the ball, McQueen elbowed Eastoe in the face - breaking his jaw in two places. 

 

The injury put Eastoe out for six weeks. 

 

Manager Gordon Milne was furious with McQueen, who he said 'deliberately tried to injure' Eastoe, adding that 'Peter would now be saying the same thing, if he could talk'. At that moment,  Eastoe was In the Royal Infirmary, being fed through a straw.

 

Another man with facial injuries after that game was Steve Lynex, who lost a tooth after an incident involving - Gordon McQueen.

 

The result that day was Leicester 1 Man U 1 - leaving us 21st in the table. The spirited performance though (we played 20 minutes with ten men after Eastoe went off) had reporters saying 'they'll stay up easy on this form' - and indeed we did.

 

Eastoe's next game for us was in the second loan spell the following season - and it was quite a day. All the City players mentioned in this post on the scoresheet as we beat Villa 5-0.
