He is an amazing hope to see him in the Pink of City for years to come You are right. Yet doesn’t hold a candle to Mahrez.
Swalshed Posted 20 August 2019 Posted 20 August 2019 His moves in the box on Sunday were reminiscent of Riyad, but Mahrez would've finished better

Much much better player than mahrez at the same age Time will Tell if he goes on to develop that end product as Mahrez did Riyad set the bar VERY High but , what a player he was for city

filbertway Posted 21 August 2019 Posted 21 August 2019 I'd love to see how many key chances he created compared to other players. Taking probably 150-200 corners and floating them towards Harry's head must count for a high percentage of the "chances" created last year. I like how he plays and think with improvement he's gonna be a hell of a player at this level. I just find the stats annoying as they don't tell the full story. He's incredibly wasteful on the ball after doing well to get himself into promising positions. I guess it's a bit like Chilly. Absolutely dynamite at getting into promising positions and then you're not sure if they're going to be able to do anything to create a goal. I'd rather have them in the side than not, if/when it does click for them, and a lot of our players in the final third, I can see us blowing a few teams away this season.

Jesus, imagine if he was consistent.
HighPeakFox Posted 21 August 2019 Posted 21 August 2019 Of all our players, Maddison suffers most from people allowing their notion of him as a human being colouring their perception of him as a footballer. Some of the nonsense and spite written about him seems so unnecessary.

Guest Posted 21 August 2019 Posted 21 August 2019 I told you when we signed Praet that he has been bought as the replacement for Maddison when he is sold for big money next summer.
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 21 August 2019 Posted 21 August 2019 The way he found and created space for himself with the ball was really impressive. But as others say, until he makes that count with a killer pass or goal himself, he is way off these Messi like comparisons. Plenty of time to grow. He has the potential to feed Vards 20+ goals easy. He had five of those chances in the last game alone!!

Another point on Mahrez, even at a young age he could stop any ball dead,or bring it quickly under control...but different skills different player..no base for comparison!!

I understand that Vardy plays off of the shoulder but he was just offside a few times and made the pass unplayable. He seemed to want the through ball just before Maddison had the opportunity to play it. It’ll come together.

Definitely could move the ball on faster at times.

Once or twice it did look like the pass wasn’t really on though. I suppose it’s subjective depending on whether you’re looking at Vardy or Maddison. I’m sure it’ll click soon enough.

Wouldn't say it's unlikely if he's getting those figures. Pogba, Coutinho and Hazard haven't had seasons like that.

You mean players who have won world cups, performed at the highest levels consistently and put in good numbers on a regular basis... Maddison has a long, long way to go to be put in their bracket, even after a good season.

If he gets 14 goals and 14 assists this season he'll be in line to win the PFA Player of the Year award as a 22/23 year old then he'll attract massive bids. We've just sold a 26 year old centre half for 85m don't forget.
Shane Posted 21 August 2019 Posted 21 August 2019 7 goals, 7 assists last season. If he can get 10 goals and 10 assists this year that would be a great return.
LestaAl Posted 21 August 2019 Posted 21 August 2019 If he could take a corner that would be good too...

Agreed 100% but all the signs are promising the stats comparisons put James way ahead at age stage , now he had to cement that and prove he is as classy , Mahrez has set the bar high

Ultimately they get judged on goals scored and assist so comparisons are very very easy I can trap a ball like Messi but after that I look like Stephen Hawkins playing footie , trapping the ball means nothing at this level

Some forget...pundits, & ourselves are discussing/debating a talent on future potential, upon what we believe we have seen so far....nothing more or less

Shows you underrate the skills to bring various weighted, hight -Level of delivered balls ,under control while moving, readjusting ones owns stride & pace, during a PL game. Mahrez could be even better than Messi,at that one attribute, but I just presume you aint..!!!
