The Horse's Mouth Posted 25 September 2019 Posted 25 September 2019 just turned it on, all these MPs furious about prorogation cant even be arsed to turn up.

It's the deal bit that's been contrived by those in power that no-one was aware of, that's clouded the issue. Nobody was aware of a deal being involved despite all the brexiteers spending the entirety of the referendum campaign talking about getting the easiest deal in history?

That's because they've sat listening to a clown for over two hours who shows no signs of backing down and offering no sense of an apology for his outrageous actions. I'm surprised no one has hit him. The amount of anger that he just jovially ignores is astounding. and now he's just walked out. Back Boris 0%. What a shambles.

So you think letting citizens of the EU have a major say in how the UK goes forward is a good idea?In an in out referendum of all things.
st albans fox Posted 25 September 2019 Posted 25 September 2019 Today’s resumption of parliament seems to show that prorogation simply saved us watching more arguing and nothing constructive as a consequence.......

If they live here why should they not have a say? I thought Brexiters were all for democracy and now you seem to be suggesting that people shouldn't vote if they're foreign and may have a different opinion to you.

If it says British on their passport, they can vote, that’s how it works.

If I moved to Italy, set up a successful business.Employed hundreds and paid millions in tax.I still wouldn’t expect to have a say in how Italy moved forward. It simply wouldn’t be my right. You see the thing is i’m British.I could be here today gone tomorrow.
Mike Oxlong Posted 25 September 2019 Posted 25 September 2019 BJ looks like a cornered animal from what I’ve seen

If 'moving forward' meant me potentially losing my right to work and live in a place and I couldn't have a say on it, I'd be rather peeved I reckon.

But "coup" "fascist" "dictator" "liar" are absolutely fine and will incite absolutely no one. And then when election day comes half the people complaining about Boris amd his language will then go and vote for John "lynch the bitch" and "no Tory should walk the streets without direct action" McDonnell to be Chancellor.
Guest MattP Posted 25 September 2019 Posted 25 September 2019 Big DOH! from me as well, I didn't intend to get back involved here and was on autopilot replying.
Mike Oxlong Posted 26 September 2019 Posted 26 September 2019 I thought that the anarchy and aggression would be stoked from the streets rather than from within parliament It really wouldn’t surprise me at all if some extremists do something extreme

Voll Blau Posted 26 September 2019 Posted 26 September 2019 Johnson is fvcking Yuck lads. Partisan politics aside, we should be embarrassed as a nation to have a Prime Minister who behaves that way while addressing Parliament. He's a disgrace. And yes, I'd be saying exactly the same thing if Corbyn, or any non-Tory PM, behaved so callously while MPs from the other side of the chamber told him of direct and real threats they and their families face. As for saying "getting Brexit done" would be the best way to honour the memory of an MP murdered by a fanatic motivated by her pro-EU beliefs... well, if you lap up what he says and how he acts, given the office he currently holds, then you're an idiot - pure and simple. This country's going to the dogs at the moment, and it's being directed there from the very top.

I'm sure the security services will love the idea. Given the views we've both put forward in this thread, I doubt we would ever have much agreement on what is best for the country going forwards. This, however, is the rare instance we do! What a pile of nonsense.

Anybody who can defend his actions last night, regardless of whether this is some 'genius' Cummings strategy, needs to take a long hard look at themselves. He is a lot worse than I ever expected him to be. What makes it even worse is that I still don't think he even believes what he's saying - he is just doing whatever he can to keep power.

This argument is infantile. They've both been guilty of it, that doesn't make it fine. Also from your list of words 'coup' was used by both sides, 'liar' is a fact, 'dictator' is a fair way of explaining the unlawful prorogation. Fair enough on 'fascist' although I don't think that's thrown around willy nilly. And the fact you are bringing up McDonnell quotes from 5 years ago shows that abuse shouldn't be accepted. Both sides have been guilty in the past but the debate was about moving forward, especially since the threat to politicians has been shown due to the murder of Jo Cox. To dismiss it as humbug is despicable.

Regarding jobs - that has been tested quite a lot in different countries and there has been no loss in productivity except in one instance where tested. And education - I am private school educated and think their existence is a joke. Maybe their plans should be better fleshed out but private schools have had a ridiculously good deal for hundreds of years and should be abolished in the long run. EDIT: not saying by any means they are all good policies btw... just think "batshit" is a bit harsh and some of them could be developed into sound policy.
RoboFox Posted 26 September 2019 Posted 26 September 2019 Johnson's comments were calculated to offend. He's mobilising the far-right. Even the most staunch traditional Conservatives on here must realise that. He's abandoned any claim to be a one-nation Tory. This is nationalism, and it's ****ing dangerous. Anybody supporting this needs to give their head a wobble.
