People said it was fine for him to go to a casino when he was ill when england were playing, I am not so sure its not somthing I could ever imagine doing, I would be pissed off not playing. I sense his agent makes him feel like he is gods gift to football. He has at times been very good but he also has drifted through games without much infulence recently. David Bentley is a inferior player but the body language of the two players seems simular at times. Bentley retired at 29....make of that what you will. Look at the true greats of any sport and you don't find them in casinos, Dubai parties or Soccer AM.

You don’t seem to get Liverpool or Man City players in these situations in season, because their respective managers would go apeshit and drop them,

This covers it out really. If you look at players like: Adriano Ronaldinho Adrian Mutu Van Der Meyde George Best Adriano Leite Paul Gascoigne, Michael Chopra David Bentley Matt Etherington Mario Ballotelli and to a degree, Diego Maradona All of those, could have been, so much better as footballers, if they’d had better lifestyles.

Ric Flair Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 Taking a long time to sign this contract isn't he? If Rodgers has ordered him to play deeper then it's a moronic decision as both he and Tielemans have stopped scoring goals or getting in remotely dangerous spaces near the opposition's penalty area, you'd expect this under Puel but not a manager renown for attacking. This is why I don't believe it's a direct order and more the result of the team being way off form and our chief creator going searching for the ball, like the declining Rooney did with horrible effect for club and country. Hopefully it's back to the drawing board, go 3-4-1-2 with Maddison pinned in that pocket between the oppositions defence and midfield and he can start producing the good again. He was exceptional up until mid January this season, had really started to show consistency. His lack of assists this season was surprising but now it's not given the lack of intelligent positioning. If he still stalls on this new contract in the summer, then I'd seriously be tempted to sell for a Maguire sort of fee or more, I love Maddison but he's not irreplaceable to this team.
st albans fox Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 This thread is becoming rather sanctimonious..... the kids done nothing wrong ..... let him grow into a man ...... tbh, he comes across as a pretty level headed individual but that won’t stop the haters hating .......
Hales Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 To be honest I think people are a little crazy if they think Madders, LCFC or friends and family don't read these forums! We want to attract and keep these young players and some of the comments are really harsh. Is it any wonder he hasn't signed a contract?! If I'd read half of this about me I'd be off! If he goes Chilly and other youngsters are sure to follow. Do we really want that to happen? Get behind them all. They are clearly suffering with confidence and we should we cheering them on, chanting their names and giving them a boost. He is clearly a good lad as Brendan has come out and defended him so staunchly. I hope we can keep these youngsters but they need our support not constant criticism.
Guest An Sionnach Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 Mason Mount likes to keep a low profile best not to give the hacks something to beat you with.

Hales Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 True but he has personality and character! He is clearly well loved still by all at Norwich and very popular at Leicester also and for Brendan to speak publicly about him he is clearly a good lad who loves his football. Constructive criticism is fine as everyone needs to learn but the criticism he and Chilly receive is really harsh. They are clearly popular lads in the team and I worry if the youngsters start drifting away we will be left with just the older experienced players. Every team needs youth! Half of the premier league were in Dubai yet it was just madders in the paper. He is going to be the player they love to hate like Beckham. He needs his own fans behind him!
Ric Flair Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 His attitude to the game IMO is fine, he evidently loves football and is very dedicated in improving, managers have said so. I also think physically he has improved under Rodgers, that's what impressed me the most in the last year. He just needs to get back to playing in areas that he's most effective and stop pissing about inside our half. The impending return of Ndidi should help this, Choudhury seems to hide when our defenders have the ball.
Hales Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 I agree, but I think that has been a tactical decision as we haven't had ndidi. I'm sure madders would rather be up getting assists and goals and doing what he does best. I think he has worked his socks off though helping in defence and midfield. I get people's frustrations but he is clearly following instructions. Chant their names out Wednesday and give them all a boost!
Grebfromgrebland Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 Our dip in form isn't down to the like of Madison it's more due to the fact that the opposition have figured out how to play against us and Brendan doesn't know how or doesn't have the players to counter that.

As a team we are not the best at getting into space to show for the ball, but Hamza was very culpable of not showing for the defence on Friday, he could have dropped and showed for the ball far more often. He will learn I hope.

You can't blame it all on that, it's a combination of things.
Tom12345 Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 I think it is fair that we should get behind Madders. I like him and want him to improve. Just that I also want some realism in how fans and the media see him - and more importantly how he sees himself. So long as he recognise his own problems and improve, I think he has great potential. And to start, don’t take all the freekicks and corners! I think Tielemans and Barnes can also take corners! It is so frustrating when half his corners can’t clear the first man.

Hales Posted 3 March 2020 Posted 3 March 2020 He didnt have to say anything but he did so I think that says alot! Brendan is normally passive about most things so the fact he was so ardent in his defence says alot. I like Madders, yes he makes mistakes but he is 23! We have all been there! It's a learning curve for him and part of that is realising now he is in the premier league his life will be scrutinised. Let's get behind him and support our youngsters.

Actually this is a very good point. I've mentioned on here before people like Lebron James who are just off the scale when it comes to commitment and dedication, but interestingly I came across Lebron talking about his time at Madder's age... “At 22, I wasn’t mentally ready for this,” James said. “You dream about it, you want it, but you don’t have the experience to actually know. I think in ’07, I think that was my first time going to the Finals. Mentally, I’d never been a part of it, so I didn’t know exactly how much commitment, how much sacrifice that you’ve got to make not only for yourself, but for your team for the better of it. But the experience, without the experience I wouldn’t be who I am today.” So you're right, maybe this is a learning curve for him. They are young and are adapting to this new pressure and expectation. Also the spotlight on their private lives. We are in a social media age now and camera phones everywhere. He comes across as mature but he is young and will make mistakes. They will all come good but they need us all behind them. If their own fans cant back them then their is no hope. Chant their names Wednesday and give them a huge boost and make the King Power a fortress!
