Dennis Praet

If Rogers is willing to provide a wide latitude to others coming back from injury than why not the same courtesy to Dennis. Something does'nt smell right.

In what way is Rodgers treating Praet any differently to other players with long term injuries?

Are you complaing because he didn't rush him back too quickly?

Not really the same. If he was gently bringing him back, with a few late cameos it would be different.  If he wasn’t fit enough for even that, then he shouldn’t be on the bench.

There were definitely opportunities to get him back into the fold for the run in and he clearly didn’t fancy him. I think he was disappointed with his performance against man city and that seemed to be his last chance.

when Rodgers makes his mind up on the future plans he sticks with it. So I think under and Praet were both seen as out the door

What's the betting if we'd have played Praet in those last 6/7 games at varying lengths of time then we may just have got that CL spot after all.

Therein lies the issue - we can only guess. I'm an advocate of Praet too, but nothing is certain in hindsight.

True. I can't help but think that Brendan shouldn't have brought on RP with half hour to go in the Spurs game but Praet instead to plug those holes. Most times us fans can get it wrong but at the time I was combusting internally when he made that change. I knew it was wrong.

I thought he looked really good playing further forward earlier I'm the season. Think he was the best player on the pitch playing on the right wing vs Wolves even.

Also really surprised Perez was constantly played ahead of him. I could take the he was still coming back from injury argument if he was coming on with 15 mins to go. But when he was on the bench and wasn't even getting on for what felt like the entire final 2 months of the season it's a difficult argument to buy.

That's the only thing that makes sense to me especially with the euros.

Apart from the obvious one which is apart from 1 or 2 games he hasn't been good enough whenever he's started for us.

My puzzlement is as to why he occupied a place on the bench if Rodgers had no intention whatever of bringing him on.

Dennis is a understated player who is better long term player, while Perez is more of a fancy style player who does the odd Mahrez Style now and again touchwood. but Perez has been Rubbish this season when I watched him on TV but everytim I've seen Dennis he's been quietly good. Pisses me off why Brendan is so fixated with certain players while dropping others. Brendan needs to mellow out and become mutable to change instead of becoming so fixed in his own ideas!

Ones a midfield playmaker and the other is a forward player though, wrong players to compare in the squad when you’re talking about options really.

Agree..though These are the positions & Set up, that managers like to have...Paddy can play midfield  an attacking role, which he did more or less at the early side of the season

Bit your right, you cant compare them ,they have different Skill sets..

Though I See Praet more comfortable, all around the pitch....DM..HM, AM, and something like an attacking or defending 10 role...

So like we See Amartey, flexible across the BLine, when pushed in midfield,

I See Praet more than Perez, as a player who gives the manager, more scope & flexability in  set-up ..

Important for me is that Praet stays, the Quality & what he bring to the squad is difficult to replace.

I believe both Praet & Amartey are underrated to squad needs..!

I support defend  all players who Pull on the blue-shirt/ foxes-badge over their head...,

But its getting Harder to understand Rodgers Preferences direction Perez....

Though in all my years, following Football around the world....

I have seen Every manager has that mysterious individual selection card, where fans

find it difficult to understand or take on board....

This season, with Covid, & squad all round injury issues as been difficult.

Next season, a couple more player additions, more tournament-interests,then a lower % injury-free-squad,

present players will discover/find new roles & better opportunities to again  stake their claim...

look what Vardy has done.Even Justin,Castagna,Ricardo before their injuries....they started to take on more responsibilities.

Todays players are not tied to One position/style of play....Its more the fans who forget or are  unflexible in thought...

This forum can be somewhat slow on pick-up on modern  players utility/flexible capabilities...

Yes I agree but I was reacting more to comments about Perez and Praet before mine and the fact if I had one place left to fill I would play praet rather than perez! Perez has fleeting moments of good play but Dennis is more of a technical steady eddy who I would have more trust in. The Belgians play great together and link up well. I'm beyond frustrated with Perez now to be honest.  The Belgian coach even said he was surprised by Praet's levels and fitness given he hasn't played. I'm not sure what Brendan sees in some over others but I guess I'm not a manager 😂 I think Praet will have a good Euros, all our Belgians will. I bet he is buzzing to actually play!
