Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 November 2019 Posted 26 November 2019 Even photos from the Levein era look desaturated.

What pisses me off most is that I had a season ticket throughout that entire shitty period and since I gave up my season ticket (when my daughter was born) we've been brilliant I blame Levein entirely for that and everything else that goes wrong in my life. Levein wasn't so bad. Kept us mid table championship with very little resources. Hughes and De Vries weren't complete disasters. I'll never forget De Vries' finish in the cup tie Vs Spurs. 3-2. I watched it with my dad and I remember going mental! A couple of decent cup runs under Levein as well.

I often think how did I ever get into football when this was the team my dad first took me to see

As good as it got back then. Kids don't realise how lucky they are now.

I know MVD scored THAT goal but for the most part he was absolute trash as were most of Levein's other signings.

I've drilled it into my brother (14) that it'll come crashing down one day, he seems to get it but I don't think he'll ever realise just how bleak we were then
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 26 November 2019 Posted 26 November 2019 Few things more terrifying than seeing Rab Douglas hurtle from his line after hesitating for what seemed like a lifetime.

I was 11 going into that season, aware of football but not fully understanding, of course. I thought spending £7m on Scowcroft, Walker and Wise was great business and I was excited for the new season (until I heard the Bolton score in a static caravan in Cleethorps) After the dreadful end to 00/01, what were people's expectations going into 01/02? New stadium, still awash with cash, Premier League regular. Was it "oh we'll recover from that bad patch" or were we all braced for the season ahead? Was Wise the midfield terrier we needed? Was Scowcroft really considered the answer to attacking options? I'm genuinely fascinated by attitudes "at the time" I was travelling then, and rang my Mum from transit lounge in Atlanta to find out the Bolton score. I did not enjoy the next leg of the journey.

I had a similar situation to you actually - season ticket from 05-07 and then moved abroad in 2008 just before Pearson took over. Went to about two games in the promotion and title winning seasons.
