How many times has Vardy touched the ball since the restart?

Recommended Posts

He was touching the ball less when he was banging in the goals. It is a deliberate tactic for him to be involved less. No one was moaning when that was happening.

Foxestalk will never fail to amaze me with the absolute shit it comes out with.

Out of form yes, but how can he touch the ball if no fvcker passes it to him

By doing what Kelechi does and dropping deeper to help the team play

He might touch it a bit more often if it didn’t cannon of his shins 2 out of every 3 times it comes his way.

Hes a good player in poor form. As is most of the team. Acknowledging that doesn’t make you any less of a fan, or in Brendan’s case, manager.

Iheanacho up front on Saturday please.

Absolutely right pal, I love the fact he's contributed nothing to the team since Christmas. Can't believe everyone's moaning.

If he’s deliberately not making runs and pressing because he’s getting older, how can he have such an untouchable position in the squad? About time we looked for a replacement or at least serious competition for him. He’s still great, but if he’s on the decline this year, what’s he gonna be like the next?

Seems to me he's being instructed to stay central, he's not been involved in games all year, he just had games where he'd take what was often his only chance in a game so his overall lack of contribution was completely overlooked. It's a miracle he's got 19 goals this season given the amount of good chances he must have had, the only thing that's changed is the goals and slim pickings for chances have dried up, his overall contribution is hardly any different to before the lockdown and I'm convinced it's how he's being told to play rather than by choice.

Really? He never touches the ball and his control is always awful and he never drops in to space, we forgot ve him when he scores but if he doesn’t it’s like playing with 10 men, well 8’rrally as his lack of movement means no space for anyone else. Love him as a goal scorer but if he isn’t scoring then don’t have him on the pitch

The service is woeful. Absolutely woeful. The rot in our build-up play is from top to bottom. There are very few attackers in world football, if any, who would thrive while we're playing this way. It's not as if we've scored goals from lovely flowing football when we've changed the personnel either. Which attacking player, exactly, has done the business for us on a regular basis since Christmas?

But no, the problem isn't the coaching, or the clearly erratic decision making of a manager who swears to god that we have goals on tap, and are doing everything right, game in game out. It's irrelevant that we've looked like a bottom three side for nearly half of the season, and that the lack of movement off the ball, or willingness to close down, amounts to downright laziness on the part of these players. No, Vardy is to blame.

I hope that people who think they're being good fans by defending the manager and, in doing so, pointing the finger at Vardy, understand that they are every bit as guilty of scapegoating as those who have questioned the manager, or Chilwell, or Ndidi, or even - going back - Puel, or Ranieri, or whoever else.

And you're pointing the finger at the person whose superhuman form was largely the reason for us being where we were anyway (not to mention winning the league a few years back, and in general being the greatest player in our entire history).

So well done for that. We'll definitely solve all of our problems if we stop criticising a manager who has clearly lost his way (and who has made enough glaring errors for us not to need to blame anyone else) in favour of lambasting our greatest asset.

It's time for the manager, and the team, to acknowledge that we need to go back to the drawing board. The problems are far more fundamental than this individual or that individual. But to see supposed fans latching on to long-since discredited rumours of Shakey and a clique of snakes ruining Ranieri's reign - and then many of the same undermining Puel - instead of looking at the mistakes made by the club in the meantime (while those supposed snakes have, it should be added, been central to everything we've done well) is disheartening.

So the most he's ever had all season in this game and since the restart lollol

That puts an end to this thread.

Where the touches are must also be relevant. He was running the channels quite a bit today. There were only a handful of touches in the box, some of which resulted in him failing to craft something for himself, and some of which resulted in him crafting spurned chances for others.

Needs dropping, he's been shit for months except for 1 game, it's like playing with 10 men. Problem is we have no other options because apparently we're too good to sign a target man.

This would solve quite a few problems.

Have a look at how any possession based Center forward plays, then watch Vardy, you will see it’s the forward that creates the space

You just constantly want to pick bones of Vardy.

Facts are we have away a 2-0 lead and that’s the reason we lost.

He played ok today I thought, his first touch was off at times but so was everyone’s!
He actually set up our 2 best chances! He set up a great chance for Perez near the end, he also set up Nacho winning a great header at the back post. (He also flicked it on for Nachos goal too).

People are clueless really, I honestly sometimes think some people on here don’t watch the games and just see he hasn’t scored, panic because we’re awful at the minute, and just say a lazy comment.

Yes , he’s not playing brilliantly and he’s probably a bit low on confidence but , every meaningful situation we have, he’s usually involved in, making the most of the little scraps he’s getting.

We are absolutely turgid currently. We pass it around the back 4 thinking we are Barcelona but it’s aimless possession. There’s no urgency, there’s no running off the ball. The whole thing is shocking atm and whilst Vardy is not at it completely currently, he is far off the main reason we are awful.

Rather than changing him and sticking with exactly the same but with Nacho, we need a change in tactics.

We were so bad first half today, you can’t start like that and expect to get anything!!

We need to get Nacho up with Vardy and flood the midfield.
Same formation as away to Villa, Maddison head of the diamond and stretch the game later on! BR got it wrong again today and that’s why we lost.
Giving 2-0 away to Everton and blaming it on an icolated striker 🤦‍♂️😂. Only Leicester fans...
