VLC86 Posted 7 February 2022 Posted 7 February 2022 I’m retracting my POTS nomination after yesterday, apologies to all concerned.

Thats the exact absolutely ludicrous statement people are talking about with regards to Amartey. He's started 9 of our 20 PL games (which include his utterly atrocious performance vs West Ham where he was directly at fault for 3 goals and was even worse than today and his crap performance vs Arsenal where he feebly made himself small at Smith-Rowe's shot and another crap performance vs Chelsea where he stood there like a statue while letting Pulisic run rings round him). If you're giving players who've had 6 league games of solid to great performances the Player of the Season award then this forum really has gone to pot. I mean Vardy should be miles ahead of that for his form up until October alone when he was carrying us, which rules Amartey out from the off. May as well give Albrighton player of the year too as he's generally played well when called upon on occasion. Vardy has 9 league goals, Maddison 6 and 3 assists, Iheanacho has 4 assists and 2 goals. No one is saying they've been amazing every game or necessarily up to the standard of previous POTY winners, but only Leicester fans could argue that some defender in a season were going to concede 75 odd league goals who has had 6 decent league games is in genuine conversation alongside them just because he's doing OK for a 5th choice centre back. I didn't say he should be, but the lack of stand out performers this year means whether you like it or not he is in the conversation. I agree it's a slam dunk for vardy, but I can't think of anyone in the backline that's had a better season than him, for that alone he is in the conversation. And again nobody has argued he should be, why do you all have to create arguments. He will most likely be a nomination and that alone is being in the conversation Edited 7 February 2022 by The Horse's Mouth

Dropping both of them then means a centre back pairing of Choudhury and Vestergaard....is that a CB pairing for the Premier League??? I still think we seriously messed up not getting a CB in on loan as that clearly is the position on the pitch where we are seriously failing We can’t drop Amartey for the reasons you stated. And generally he has been the best of a truly awful bunch. Apart from yesterday where he was truly gash. The recruitment over the summer was awful from the club really.

Rather annoying when you look back at some of the centre back links we had in the summer Kabak Richards Tah Szalai Collins All around 24 or younger, seemingly available on loan or would cost no more than Vestergaard really, then the Fofana injury and the club just sh!t the bed and dumped the rest of our money on that lamp post 2

Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 He's twice the defender Vestercrap is. Do you think Rogers believed that when we brought the lame Dane? 1
daddylonglegs Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 Dan the man. My favourite player as he has been all season. Not as great as some people make out, but certainly not as bad as most have made out. 2 1

Kierzz Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 First choice CB. Just plays poor when he's with Soyuncu 1

Torten Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 Played very well tonight, is very good in 1v1 situations exactly the opposite of Soyuncu 1

Are you being serious? 😂😂 In terms of at Liverpool he at least had a few decent games, and also being young there is a lot more potential to possibly sell him on when compared with Vestergaard. As well as also being Soyuncu's international teammate it would have meant at least some level of familiarity between the two Would've been more upside with Kabak than Vestergaard Not saying he would've been a good signing, but he wouldn't have been worse than Vestergaard either 1
sm1 Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 Watching Brentford yesterday, Ajer looked really good. I'm amazed, Brendan knowing him well from his Celtic days, didn't go in for him in the summer. Cheaper, younger & better then Vesty.
turlo Posted 13 February 2022 Posted 13 February 2022 Thought he was to blame for both goals today. First goal he sat deep while the other two defenders in line stepped out and he lost Dawson for their equaliser then did f all to put him off by at least trying to jump in front. That's coming from a fan of the Big Dan but he really should be doing better to prevent those goals even if he is a back up defender. 1
coolhandfox Posted 13 February 2022 Posted 13 February 2022 Nice guy but we are going no where with him and the other chuckle brother at CB.
Kierzz Posted 13 February 2022 Posted 13 February 2022 He can't play with Soyuncu. The way they maintain the line is terrible. They never stand aligned which is what caused the first goal and could have caused far more if West ham played the ball over the top at the right time

He’s too far up when Bowen is clearly in his eye line. Whereas Dan has gave himself a yard or two on Antonio. Also Soyunco is stood square on and not side on so easier to push off forwards or drop back, depending on the ball. There’s no way in earth that a centre half should be level with a fullback at that point of the pitch.

And Soy is square on because he actually jumps two-footed, a shit-or bust move that means he's got no chance whatsoever of getting back.
