It was probably the same agreement with Maddison last year, but in his case, his stock has gone down and one of the CL clubs coming in for him are very slim. Youri is Bayern/Madrid/Barcelona/Man U & Psg bound, whereas Maddison is more likely to go to an Arsenal! Maddison is quite clearly playing injured. When he was fit and firing over the winter months he was our best player in a lot of the games. He is on form, our best chance of creating a goal. The key is now getting someone else in who can be equally as threatening. Would free him up a little if we get a right midfielder in who can create too.

What an incredible hardship to honour more than 1/4 of his contract.

Feels different with youri, he seems to genuinely like it.

I agree with you he's not 100% fit, and imo when he's fit and confident the team play much better, but he needs to kick on and stay injury free next year to get to that next level. 1

I read this so many times with Chillwell and it feels odd, that someone who was brought through, given their chance and big break could apparently dislike us so much

I sat next to them at many away games and they were always very sensitive as soon as someone offered the slightest bit of criticism towards Ben. Felt he was being held back aged 18. Ben is massively big time and never thought he could reach his goal here despite the club giving him much of what he asked for. He got special treatment ahead of many of the other academy products and eventually they just got fed up of him and got rid. Several incidents of him being late for team meetings and ignoring senior players too.

Always find it disappointing when someone at the club turns out to be a massive dickhead.

He's achieved champions league and is in a champions league final. We're not at that level yet and might not ever be.

It's a move that suited all parties.

I'd rather have good attitudes over big time climbers. I wouldn't even say that Chillwell is as good as he thinks he is. 1

He didn’t achieve champions league though did he, they were already there when he joined. Champions league final yes, but they’re not guaranteed to win it.

I mean, I'm not one of the folk on here that has a grudge for life against Riyad. But every time he bleats about how we "forced him to stay" I just sigh a little. Nobody forced him to sign a contract to stay longer. He could have stayed on a lower wage the previous time he signed a deal and left earlier. I mean, that was a choice available to him. 9

Leicester_Loyal Posted 25 May 2021 Posted 25 May 2021 Not even worried, he'll sign a new contract and his wages will jump up massively, but I do think he'll leave next summer with our blessing if we fail to make the CL.

Popular Post gerblod Posted 25 May 2021 Popular Post Posted 25 May 2021 Elite is as elite does. I see no elite teams in this league - I see a clique of moneyed clubs still doing everything possible to ensure their positions - either legally or by circumventing the spirit of fair play. It seems that most on here have now ditched the idea of doing it the 'Leicester Way' and returned to the mindset of knowing our place while tugging a forelock. Mahrez, Maguire, Chilwell and Drinkwater - seems to me they share a common personality theme - desperate to coddle their egos by belonging to a club with a name and being paid money they have no useful outlet for, bar the trappings of finery. I didn't like any of them - I like N'Golo and I like Youri. If Youri feels he needs to leave, it's unfortunate. This club is unique in its outlook and its recent history and he could cement his name in the greats of the club's history. We've now seen the moral level of the owners of the 'Six'. In my view they should have the book thrown at them. None of their fans at away matches, no transfers in for one season - maybe even no participation in the Premier for one season. I'm fed up of the whole transfer gossip scene. None of those clubs want competition - they want a cartel. If you were watching a boxing match and one of the guys offered his opponent x thousand quid to only use one arm, what would you all think?! This is what is going on season-in - season-out and, for me, it stinks. 7
