Maddison back?

“No, it’ll be the same squad as the weekend.”

Maddison timeline?

“There’s no timeline on it. It’s day to day. He’s working with the medical team. We want him back as soon as possible. We’ve got five starters out. I’ve got no timescale on it.”

"No timeline" :brendan:

Someone somewhere - either at Leicester or with England - has totally f****d up either the prognosis or his rehabilitation from this injury, or both, haven’t they?

His communication of injuries is beyond a joke. Maddison now hasnt played a game of football for 2 months. People have serious hamstring injuries and are back quicker than that.

The knee and the area is quite a complexed area. Could easily be one thing one day and a different pain the day after.

Sounds to me that they are trying to eliminate what it is, without him going for surgery (which would obviously put him out for longer)

Sounds similar to Barnes issue a few years ago.

He hasn’t played for months

once he’s available for full training it will be a couple weeks before he’s risked

so the very earliest is Brighton and I’d say that is now very unlikely - maybe a cameo at Walsall in the cup is the best we can currently hope for

I'm starting to think we've seen the last of Maddison this season. No timeline suggests the issue is quite serious or the issue still hasn't bee identified. Given he's been off duty for nearly a month I'd imagine it's not going to be good news, at least for this season.

I wonder if it's related to him playing in that West Ham game when he was definitely injured.

We better hope not, without him I dread to think how we stay up.

Very odd for it not to have any timeline, which would indicate not knowing the issue. Was it last week or the week before that Rodgers said that Madders was off down to london to see a specialist?

He isn't a doctor. Regardless of what he has or hasn't said. I would imagine medical department tell him and he repeats it. They can get stuff wrong.

And the outcome of that was positive.

One explanation that makes sense. England got it right and Maddison wanted to play there obviously, he comes back and says it’s flared up, goes to a specialist who says it’s all good but he still doesn’t want to play. Recon he’s off and is forcing a move through.

I'm assuming there was no probing further than that, despite saying he'd be back for this weekend.

Constant bullshit and no serious probing on the back of it.

Honestly won’t be devastated when we sell him in the summer he breaks too easy. Top drawer player but he’s made of glass.

Very important to replace the goals and assists though as best we can which will need to come from RW and a Madders replacement.

The knee slide in celebration after scoring was in retrospect maybe not the cleverest thing to do it you have dodgy knees 🤔

He’s a fantastic superstar. I’ll be gutted when we lose him. Irreplaceable if you judge our signings over the last few seasons.

Yep - looking out how we have operated in the last few transfer windows. We will be lucky to bring in a player in his position never mind anywhere close to his standard.

I totally missed Rodgers saying 11 days ago that Maddison be back in 7-10 days.

Even funnier

There was a point maybe 18 months ago where I'd have agreed but not now, he's taken it to borderline Mahrez levels for us in the last year or so, he'll be a huge loss when he goes. We've scored more goals for Liverpool than Leicester since he's been injured.

I do fully agree I don’t mean it in a sense that he wouldn’t be a great loss cause he really would, he’s the only true quality player we have in my opinion, Youri on his day too.

It’s just that a bigger team can afford to have key players out for 1/2 a season whereas we are always going to have 2,3 or 4 key players and we need them to be pretty much mainstays.

If we don’t see him again this season we’re absolutely ****ed

I think he said after he had seen the doc that he should be back with the medics last week and on the grass this week. Then he’d be able to train with the first team next week.  We’ve been told that the fella is a bit of a wus when it comes to injuries - maybe he just doesn’t want to risk himself unless he feels right.  he knows his body and only wants to trust himself. Can blame rodgers for lots of things  but not this if that’s what’s happening.

Or maybe there is no timeline as when he will be back doesn't relate to his injury at all...

Maddison wanted to leave in the summer.

He was only just picked for England but didn't play a minute.

It is now January and the transfer window is open...
