As Ric Flair says, this is a perfectly reasonable approach for some players, just not all of them. Some players aren't utilised correctly because of the systems that their teams use, e.g. Griezeman and Coutiinho are great players, but they look terrible for Barcelona because of the way they play at the moment. 2

Despite the best efforts of Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho. No problem punting on players when you're not at the top but when you should be at the top you should be looking to buy players that are at the peak of their powers and entering the primes of their career. Be interesting to see how that sort of mentality would work here. We're currently in Europe having finished 5th (would have finished in the top 4 barring Covid). I think we're in a position to buy players that are ready now and are performing regularly for their clubs. 1

Plus we're still seen as a parochial club by players and agents so they will always choose a 'bigger' club either in the PL or in Europe. 1
Muzzy_Larsson Posted 22 September 2020 Posted 22 September 2020 We went through a phase of this at Celtic (not under Brendan tbf) of signing strikers with horrific stats and then wondering why they struggled to score goals. Oddly one of which was Teemu Pukki.
