Think I read he got nominated as he had been in the country for x years but then whole host of footballers etc could be picked ?

Anyway it did seem Earps and Broad were the clear favourites with the bookies and it showed .

I wonder if KJT would have pushed them further had she won gold in an Olympics?

Some have pointed out Alfie Hewitt probably had the most successful year but he isn’t mainstream or known well enough .

Didn't vote so not bothered but as KJT came back from injury to become World Champion  in a well known sport I thought she deserved to win

Some posters over in the main forum, delighting in Mavididi's wind up celebration in front of the Brum fans after he scored. They can see no problem with it and cannot understand why he's been called out for it even by his own manager. Even one of his own team mates (Winks) pulled him away and gestured an apology to the Birmingham supporters.

I strongly suspect that many of those same fans who delighted in his 'celebration', would have gone absolutely ape shit if an opposing player had behaved similarly to them.

...some people like the nature of football to be tribal, antipathetic and (occasionally) violent, with all that entails. Because...well, "human nature" and apparently we can't help ourselves and it's a good way to vent negative emotions rather than learning how better to deal with them otherwise. Apparently.

Given his smily and happy persona I wonder if Sam Ryder is like that behind the scenes too, or if he is a complete and utter cvnt?

He's always looked like a grinning psycho to me.

SPOTY brings out even more thick twats than poppy season.

It’s a public vote, it’s really not difficult to understand.

Then you get morons on the other side who think she won it because of her personality :frusty:

Wonder if the staunchly labour supporting scousers will employ their famous sense of integrity and decency and have a pop at him for writing for a Tory rag?

Surely, anyone who's "scouse not English" will see this for what it is - contributing to the Tory media machine - and rightfully disown him even though he played for Liverpool?

What a lot of fans are delighted with is not have boring bland players . You the type with no fight, the type that get you relegated.

Maybe we can get rid of the fans with a similar character. We could actually have fans making an atmosphere and staying until the final whistle .

I believe we had a similar conversation to this on the main forum when that Spurs fan engaged in rather unwise behaviour in L1 and got himself a rather predictable response... :D

They had McAnuff covering the Palace Brighton game last night.  Now, albeit he's played for Palace but I'm hoping they were blooding him to cover more Prem games.

Generally speaking the bigger named pundits are the worst ones.

So many non-big named players who have such a good understanding of the game and convey it in an interesting way.

I was impressed with him last night. Came across very articulate and despite playing for Palace showed no bias.

Seen him covering a few championship games.  Think he's far better than some of the current dross Sky have covering the Prem

He is clearly invested, does research and knows about all of the teams and players in the division. Unlike most of the Sky/BT lot who don't really care and aren't interested in anyone outside the top 6. And Newcastle.

The most ridiculous thing I read recently on here was that 'not all conspiracies are secret' - despite the fact the very dictionary definition of a conspiracy contains the word SECRET.

Strangely it was posted by someone that I suspect has Trump sympathies.  Post truth era indeed.

I can’t believe train pricing is going up. It’s an absolute shambles we must have the worst rail network in Europe. It’s such a piss take, the pricing is already way too high!

Get people off the roads they say and yet public transport in this country is ridiculously expensive.

By comparison to practically every other nation of similar land area, population and level of development, public transportation in the UK (except perhaps in Greater London) is an absolute joke.
