Anyone else still having Covid boosters? I’m about to get my 11th next week. I’ve not had Covid and suffered very few, if any, side effects from the previous vaccines or boosters. Most of the people I see still at the vax centre are elderly, I’m only 59 but immune compromised.
(not interested in anti-vax conspiracy theories btw)

Yes. My aged 80+ parents and other mature family members have just had theirs.

Got mine given when I had my flu jab. They offered at the table and I said why the hey not.

Had mine three weeks ago, I'm also immunosuppressed.  I've had all the previous without any reaction but this one (SpikeVax) made me feel unwell for a couple of days.

I really don't know how long they're going to keep these vaccinations going but apparently there's another one planned for the autumn.

I’ve decided I don’t like hotels. Mostly, I don’t like the prices they charge for alcohol and food - and I really don’t like hotel breakfasts. Their bacon is always that strip nonsense, the scrambled eggs are always too creamy and have the consistency of egg soup, and everything else is just plain wrong.

I like a large cup of coffee, two slices of marmite toast, and everyone to shut the fvck up in the morning. I do not like feeling I’ve stumbled in on a lively market with a shite music overlay.

And then there’s the aircon which never goes as cold as I want, the pillows that are always way too soft, and the wi-if that shits a brick if you try to upload work stuff.

Yes, I do not like hotels at all.

I but vinyl record job lots and part them out selling them on eBay.

I make very little profit from it - it's a hobby essentially - but they've recently asked for my NI.

I'm wondering what risk I'm running for having a tax bill arrive or getting into trouble. Seems daft that I should be under scrutiny for what amounts to shifting unwanted goods for very little profit but this is Tory Britain.

Anyone shed any light?

They are starting to crack down on side hustles. If you are taking over £1k a year revenue you have to complete a self assessment and declare your profits

Ridiculous.

I'm nowhere near that threshold but Christ - it's a hobby.

Will just have to look at other avenues of shifting vinyl.

Why is everything now a subscription service, or trying to push one onto you?

Everything seems to be on the gym bandwagon of getting people to sign up for a small amount a month and then hope they forget about it

I signed up for some free pants and tried to cancel my subscription the next day, but had to wait 48 hrs to do so.  Now they are offering more free pants to get me to re subscribe.  🤣

Afraid you'll have to travel to Warsaw.

This morning, it was the Russians who irked me with their breakfast entitlement, treating the restaurant like Ukraine and going wherever they fancied with no care for the feelings of those they offended.

I had the first 3 vaccines but still ended up getting Covid 5 times in total now. I just figured they didn't work for me.

They don’t stop you getting Covid, they help give protection against severe symptoms.

the first and third time of getting Covid were definitely the worst...  the first time i would have been in hospital if there had been any beds left.. instead i had medical professionals coming to my home every day to check my vital signs..

I dont blame anyone for even a second for not wanting to experience that. you should absolutely have as many vaccinations as you want to protect yourself from that.

Am I the only person who thinks that 16 y o leaving school after their GCSE’s are over is a waste ?

surely they could be doing pre A level courses (for those moving up to sixth form) or undertaking voluntary work in the community a few days each week ??

This probably does warrant its own thread.

I went Greggs earlier.

I asked for a sausage roll, the women replied. Sausage or Vegan Sausage Roll?

To which I replied, it's not Vegan if it's got Sausage in it? She replied with I have to ask by law which one you want, so again. I asked for a Sausage Roll. Bloke next to me was laughing and said to the women he's got a point you know - eventually she agreed and said but I have to ask.

Seriously?

My wife has worked for the NHS for over 25 years.  She tells me its so wasteful, from resourcing, technology, purchasing .  End to end it needs massive reform.  Throwing money into it is not right for us.

Agreed.

Plus there seems to be too many unnecessary managers in certain areas.

And this is why machines will take all our jobs. If humans believe any old crap any old manager tells them, like ‘it’s law to ask what type of sausage roll the customer wants’ what use do we have in paid employment
