Airports are ****ing tedious.  In transit in Singapore because no proper airlines fly direct from Perth to Jakarta.  Very very annoying.  I actually fly past Jakarta, hang around for three hours then fly back down to Jakarta again. Arse.  And it’s Sunday.

Isn't Singapore Airport supposed to be huge and a great way to spend a few hours during a transfer?

Omg yes. There’s a large group of definite inbreds in my gym that do ‘shark tank Sundays’ - mock hyrox that takes over half a floor of the gym. They move rowing machines and bikes outside . They’re often topless and congratulate each other as enthusiastically as arsenal fans after a 3-1 home win against qpr in February. It’s so cringe and I don’t know why they don’t see it. Prob coz of aforementioned inbreeding

Don't mind if they're doing a class/session in the studio space section or if it's well published that at X time they'll be doing a fake run, then I can plan around it. It's the ones who decide they're doing it when it's fairly busy and get Aggy if you're in their way

This isn’t a class. They do what you describe in your last sentence.

Football really is in the gutter.

Villa the latest club to sell off their womens team, just so that they can keep dishing out six-figure weekly wages.

The sad thing is, they have to do that to stop “breaking the rules”.

Meanwhile, the likes of Real Madrid, Man City and PSG are competing in a pointless tournament in a share of £100m.

This cannot be sustainable surely.

What exactly do you think will happen when you say it will die?

I have mostly lost interest. Great I got to see Leicester win the league and FA Cup and see Leicester’s greatest ever team and players between 2014-21 but I can’t be arsed with the charade anymore, too much about money, as you said, women’s football was starting to make a breakthrough when England won the Euros and felt a bit more grassroots and refreshing for a while but that’s being lost to a mixture of money or lack of it and culture wars nonsense of too many grown men moaning like babies about the coverage it was getting like too. I go out and play board and card games with friends and family most Saturday afternoons instead now and found that has replaced the communal, social and competitive neuron hits that football used to give me

Football365 did a good job of calling this out today.

It’s far too big for that. The most catastrophic thing that happens is maybe a TV deal collapses and subsequently some clubs do.

A lot of the problems facing football culture are the same as in arts or popular culture in general. The Internet and mass media was supposed to shine a light on new and interesting things but instead it's just turned everything into a kind of American flavoured mush, which is totally inescapable.

That seems to be about the size of it, in the Anglosphere anyway. I suppose in other linguistic areas of the Internet it might be a little different.

I've long advocated for the adoption of Welsh as our official first language

We are cursed to live in the American empire, the only empire in history whose elite have no interest in high culture. There is great American art and literature but the world doesn't get that, it gets Marvel and NFL and American culture wars, and everything starts resembling those things. I hope the French regret supporting them in the war of independence.

Its essentially a massive shopping centre that you cannot leave without a fair degree of faff, and in which most of the shops are luxury brands.  Interesting the first couple of times.

I'm at an age when I now get the frustration of modern technology. I remember getting annoyed when my parents couldn't grasp the concept of TV remotes or the early video recorders and I'd have to make trips over to set up recordings.

Now I don't get AI.

Even the air fryer seems a bit complex to set up for different things to finish cooking at the same time.

I've given up on the equal finish cooking time.

I don't get the fixation with air fryers either. But can imagine if I got an air fryer I would be obsessed with it for 9 months, tell everyone that I have an air fryer and how great it is, then forget it ever existed.

This is why I very rarely buy shiny material things.

I use mine everyday and I can't see that changing when your cooking for one, MrsG eats the stuff I don't eat so I'm cooking for one. Using an oven for one is unacceptable.

Is anyone else absolutely exhausted at needing to have an opinion on everything?

From the middle east conflict to the sports you follow and the nonsense that infests that when you're trying to enjoy it, to culture war topics and politics, it just feels utterly relentless.

It feels like you can't enjoy anything these days as everyone needs to have a stance, and not only is political opining of famous people seemingly expected, you get lambasted by the opposition for whatever you say.

I almost admire the stamina of people who thrive on this stuff and can do it hours a day, every day.

It actively makes me want to disengage with not just social media, that's easy enough to turn off, but when you try to turn to other things that should be "fun" it gets usurped by this kind of stuff.

Maybe I'm just dripping in privilege to be able to be weary with it.

And that, unfortunately, is a key part of the discussion used against those who don't have the spoons to engage.

On the general topic, I'm going to share it again.
