will any of todays brands like Tesco, Nike, Samsung, Microsoft, Coca cola etc still be around in 100 years?

They will all merge into one brand, with every other brand, called “The Brand”. Everything will be sold in “The Store”, the only shop in the world.

Interesting your say this I'm now 3 days clean of social media which is quite an achievement.

Still fairly addicted to my phone though but feel better. Just looking at science and technology sites the odd puzzle.

Importantly I'm more productive with my work and feel good.

Well done 😁👍 ive been approx a month off fb and a week off the others. Been reading my kindle app on my phone and duelingo app just to pass dead time in my van at teabreak. Hardest time is in the evening when my wifes watching soaps and such. That was the time id doom scroll. Now lookong for other things to occupy my time. Good luck with your social media withdrawl.

Random find:

"We’re on a 4.5 billion-year-old planet that took 10-20 million years to form, orbiting a giant smoldering nuclear reactor, in a galaxy called The Milky Way that contains over 200 billion other star systems, and there are hundreds of billions of other entire galaxies similar to this one just in our own observable universe that are millions and billions and trillions of light years away, and some people are still spending the measly 50-100 years they have on this finite little planet angry that other people live their lives infinitesimally and harmlessly differently to them because an old book that might as well have been written 5 seconds ago and/or an old man told them to be."

Walking the dog

Going to the pub & talking with real people

Reading books

Helping my wife in the house

One of the above is a fib

Second this, doesn't have to be those games specifically but just tabletop or analogue games in general, be them card games, board games, pub games, parlour games, word games, tabletop RPGs or whatever.

Getting back into board and card games since the pandemic has been a massive help for mentally. It also helped see my old university friends way more than I used to again as well as help me make new friends again (which is always way harder than it should be as an adult in modern times). We used to love playing games in our 20s but then people started settling down, having partners, kids etc. so we just got out the habit - and you know what happens, going to the pub and just talking gets boring because you run out of things to talk about in adult life because things don't really change fromm week to week and no one wants to talk about politics with how divisive it is these days. But we'd mentioned a few times over the years how missed it, so we just set up one night a week as a "boys games night" since 2021 and it's been great. We'd been seeing each other like once every few months for years and it's gone to once a week for some of us again and is always a good laugh, also gives you something to look forward to to break up the week after work.

Started trying some meetups as well for different games and made some good friends there as well in recent years, and I'm sure we all know how tough it is to make friends after school and university for many of us, the games give you an automatic ice breaker and jumping off point.

whatever happened to Alex Zane

Justin-Lee Collins and Rufus Hound were ubiquitous on TV for a time too

I saw Justin Lee Collins outside Turnham Green tube last year being overly theatrical and a bit odd saying goodbye to what I assumed was his latest squeeze. He's lost a bit of timber since his mid-00s pomp, harassment really worked wonders for him

Agree with board games ive drifted into ww2 table top game flames of war. I now find myself building then painting model units to then use in a game....think more complex chess.
