Never understand why anybody cares what they pay. They need to be competitive in the world in which they operate. I do not buy for one second the idea that the licence fee somehow changes this.

It's a similar argument to when people complain public servants shouldn't earn decent wages. We should want the best public servants possible running the country, which means better wages.

I cannot believe anyone is happy about living in a world where Alan Shearer gets paid 404k to sit next to Danny Murphy and drone on like a pair of miserable monotonous Northern testicles.

They defo will care, can you imagine the happy clapper onslaught if they hired second rate broadcasters. I PAY ALL MY LICENCE FEE MONEY AND THE BLOKE PRESENTING NEWSNIGHT CAN'T EVEN ACT.

People clearly care about the bbc because they're always moaning about it.

Most of them have been there years since they were just youngsters no one complained back then. Scott Mills has been there 27 years since he was 26.

World is massively different nowadays. All it takes is one Facebook post from Farage about a bad broadcaster and the happy clapping mob will duly assemble against the bbc

Its in the public interest because the licence fee will be paying the wages of all these celebrities- I agree with you here, just meaningless.

No one will go, ''right that's it I'm not watching BBC anymore as Zoe Ball has been sacked'' No one actually cares.

Zoe Ball* has indeed left. I'll bet people are still watching...

*Although, wasn't sacked.

Had to look these two up.

Stephen Nolan is a N. Ireland radio presenter

Justin Webb is a journalist so doing a more specialist job

Nolan is a grade A twat who shouldn't be employed by anyone.

Shearer is the ridiculous one on there, **** that.

Mills will be over 500k on this years numbers.

He gets a lot of listeners though, and I suppose that is the measure of success for a radio guy.  For Shearer though, people are watching for the highlights not the miserable bugger talking about them.

He maybe a grade a T but there seems to be loads of money in daytime radio. He's up against the lijes of James O'Brien and he's paid multiple times more on commercial radio.

These guys are paid the market rate

Indeed. The same mob that the rest of the time claim to hate cancel culture.

Obviously the roads are bad with potholes but some of the pavements are dangerous mostly due to the service companies patch ups which are ok on the day but after a few months many are awful.

I don't see how that really benefits anyone. He should definitely be banned from driving and should be in therapy/rehab rather than jail imo.

As far as the golf goes, he has plenty of purpose including his own foundation for teaching disadvantaged kids, part owner of the new TGL indoor league, designing new courses, coaching his son, new clothing line, full time on the PGA future comps comittee, numerous sponsorship and business ventures, possible next Ryder Cup Captain, and working tirelessly to get fit for the Masters.

The real issue is that he's an addict.

Not just addicted to golf but he's also admitted to being addicted to video games in the past. Back in 2010 he was addicted to shagging hookers in Las Vegas which he had to publically apologise for and now it seems he's addicted to painkillers to get over his numerous surgeries and injuries.

Hard to seperate the performer from the person here. No doubt one of the greatest golfers who ever lived and still moves the needle, but as a bloke, he's a bit of a *****. (I partly blame his father who was Tiger's idol but a serial adulterer and a total cvnt by all accounts)

All or none... no-ones crying in their porridge about dirty Dave the local druggie getting locked up... but oooh poor addicted millionaires need help.

I agree on all or none, but on the side that we shouldn’t be demonising dirty Dave the local druggie either and should be giving him help. Not that we should be ranting against Tiger Woods.

We’re all human beings, with the “wrong” DNA and “wrong” life experiences that could all be us. There but by the grace of god go I.

Sadly social media outrage culture doesn’t take any of that into account anymore, it doesn’t let people make mistakes anymore, dirty Dave the local druggie becomes easily googlable by any potential employer and therefore unemployable and never given the opportunity to get his life back on track. To “make one heap of all your winnings, And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings, And never breathe a word about your loss;” is impossible in 2026.

Probably why he didn't get pinned to the ground handcuffed behind his back and with a knee on his neck.

Not as important, but Morrison's, Hinckley has some terrible potholes as do most other supermarkets. They are a potential hazard. A fall/trip caused by them could result in a compensation case.

SM makes it easy for keyboard theorists to judge and condemn because they then feel a sense of justification because they see it as "bad" which makes them feel "good" for not being that person who is suffering whatever crisis in their lives.

Happy to judge and condemn. Not so happy to help or understand or enquire as to "how".
