I was admonished because of being too "political" on the News forum which is astounding when you think most of the news items have a political nature.

For God's sake we've just had a General Election.

Admin, I'm afraid, have got it all wrong but it takes a big man to admit it.

In your opinion maybe, but at the end of the day the site belongs to Mark, and he is free to run and moderate it exactly as he sees fit.

FT is possibly the best football forum there is, and we are lucky to have it.

Edited to add, the 'no politics chat' rule has been in place for a long time, we only get away with breaking the rule as long as it stays civil

Problems occur when there is a mixture of both types of queuing.

Which is... ?

IME it's generally a hurly-burly at the bar rather than a specific queue.

Maybe there could be a queue for different drinks, 1 for shit lager, 1 for decent lager (which doesn't actually exist), 1 for decent cider (same as the lager queue), 1 for draught ales, 1 for cocktails and other girly drinks, 1 for non-alcohol drinks (including the piss water that is any non alcoholic beer/lager and, not just for pepsi, orange juice etc). This could be signposted as the "designated driver" queue, then we'd know who to applaud/thank.

Could work. lol

I believe it was awarded an "award" for the best football forum some time back.

I agree, and we should NOT take it for granted, it is a special place on the the internet for so many of us here.

I'm not sure about the point you are attempting to make.

Things have changed since my post and commonsense appears to have prevailed.

PS. Without members the Forum is nothing. Let's hope it remains civil and respectful which means ALL of us.

I'm not attempting to make a point, I was replying to your post, hence the quote. You said:

By this I meant you can't really accuse Admin of "having it all wrong" when it's entirely up to Mark what we can and can't post.

I also said "the 'no politics chat' rule has been in place for a long time, we only get away with breaking the rule as long as it stays civil"

As far as I am aware this still remains the case.

Well, we can carry this on until the cows come home which seems pointless to me, however, it appears for your benefit I need to reiterate that at that time I did feel, along with many others, thought Admin had got it wrong and I still maintain that position.

Fortunately, since then things have moved on and we now have a 'Current Events' for general discussion. As the majority of news at present is mainly about politics with the recent General Election and the aftermath you are going to get posts which have  political comments.

PS. FYI I have read the "Guidelines".

Hope he’s sat enjoying a succulent Chinese meal…rest in peace

(Am I losing the plot or has the death thread disappeared?)

It was a lot of fun for about 5 minutes when it first emerged, about 15 years ago. Worn slightly thin since then

How can a deliberate, considered act be a "mistake"?

Error of judgement, driven by addiction. Maybe.

Snoop Dogg paid for "being at the Olympics":

Venture capitalist Henry McNamara shared gossip he’d overheard about how much Snoop is supposedly making on social media – and it’s pretty jaw-dropping.

‘Sat next to an NBC exec at dinner,’ he claimed in a post on X.

‘He said Snoop gets paid $500k (£392,165) a day plus expenses to be here promoting Olympics. From Gin and Juice to a few million to be a celebrity at the Olympics – what a world.’

If this information is accurate, Snoop would be earning more than more than $8.5 million (£6.64m]) for just over two weeks of work.
