From Football365's worst ever January signings.....

Andrej Kramaric

After being mistakenly invited before turning up late and to the wrong address with no gift, Andrej Kramaric still let it be known that he was “glad to be part of” the Leicester title party. Riyad Mahrez claimed the individual awards, Jamie Vardy scored the goals, N’Golo Kante ran the miles, Marc Albrighton won the hearts and Wes Morgan lifted the trophy, but Kramaric’s no goals or assists in 22 Premier League minutes before being loaned back to the Bundesliga will be fondly remembered at the King Power Stadium for generations.

The forward was a club-record signing in January 2015 with Leicester battling against relegation. He scored two goals in 13 games, one in a defeat and another on the final day when safety was already secured. Now at Hoffenheim, he has scored a barely believable 83 goals in 164 games.

It's not massively important now but didn't he assist Vardy's 2nd against Arsenal at home that season?

No surprising how well hes done for himself, you could see he was absolutely class here.

There was some glimpses potential, but his performances left much to be desired on the whole. Not sure you can claim he was 'absolutely class here'.

Apart from anything else, given the dire straits we were in when we signed him, we needed him to start scoring instantly.  He didn't do that.  We didn't have the luxury of time to allow him to "bed in" within a successful team, like we did 12 months earlier with Mahrez.  It would have been interesting to see if he could have forged a partnership with Vardy as successful as the one with Nugent the season before.

Like many others on FT.. I was completely convinced he was going to be one of the best players in Europe. It was extremely obvious to anyone with an eye for football players potential.

I saw Kram play at Arsenal just before we went on the Great Escape run. We lost 2-1, but played really well 2nd half and Kram was fantastic.

When a poster mentioned ‘absolute class’ - I agree you could see he was a superb technical footballer. When he was with us he lacked the physicality to make an impact in the prem; evidently his game is far better suited to Germany. Timo Werner has mentioned the physical challenge he is struggling to adapt to in England.

Good luck to Kramaric, I am happy to see him do well, but I don’t feel we let go of a potential superstar - Kel is showing just how hard it is to be a striker at City when a certain JV is in town.

That might have very much to do with the fact that after some protracted dealings with his permit to work, he didn't really play "instantly". I'm sure he had his reasons, but like Albrighton for much of that season, (but became so crucial during the Great Escape) was oddly consigned to the bench by Pearson. I recall him scoring away to Arsenal, at home against West Ham and in the FA Cup away to Villa. When he did come on, he certainly looked like a quality player with tremendous potential.

Was most disappointed when we sold him, particularly having been reliably informed that he was a 'wizard on the pitch' - (albeit by the same people that insisted that when Andy King 'gets the ball he scores a goal'.)

Well it's easy to look back. At least he's found is level in Germany.

What have we got to be sniffy about Germany ? It’s a quality league with some decent teams, the lad is a quality player he was just the wrong player at the wrong time

He played really well that night but his finishing cost us the game. I seem to remember him going one on one twice and trying to do silly chips over the goalkeeper.

Proper rate this lad now, really talented. Pearson Walsh etc always did have a eye for a player didn’t they.

That happened far too often with him, that and his infinite step-overs lol

I'm glad he's doing well now, he seemed like a nice guy.

He's synonymous with our greatest achievement in our history and arguably one of our other greatest achievements in history. It didn't work out but it doesn't matter, it's really pleasing he's gone on to do so well for himself.

German league is not lower than the EPL as some may suggest. It is different. Bayern is very hard to beat and we would struggle to make top 4 perhaps even harder than in the EPL.

Vardy's stats prove we were right to let him go.

Kramaric is an incredible support striker though, but just didn't have the pressing ability to fit in here.

Thing you're wrong pal, like all the top leagues the top few will be very good but the middle to bottom standard is lower than here .

Shame we've never been able to fit a support striker alongside Vardy. But we all know we still need to build the system around Vards and it's served us nicely I'd say.

Don't these Kramaric threads pop up every 3-6 months?

Good player, glad he's done well.

He likely would not have got the game time had he stayed to develop into what he is now.

"It is the most shattering experience of a young man's life when one morning he awakes and quite reasonably says to himself, "I will never play the game".
