Crawley needs to be dropped he's been terrible for some time. Give Dom Sibley a recall I think.

I don't rate Crawley at all, but there's absolutely no way this current England set up picks Dom Sibley over him. Crawley was borderline undroppable before 'Bazball' it's even harder to see him being dropped now.

The problem is, players like Duckett and Brook cannot play defensively, it’s not in their repertoire. We will have to attack. And we can win but I doubt it now.

I think gill was quite wise to take any chance for an England win completely out of the equation. Gives the bowling side complete freedom to try anything.

Current evidence suggests that's true, but we'll only know by this time tomorrow (latest).

Well there’s no chance of getting the runs so they’re left having to bat out the day

that’s a huge mind shift for this team

without root it’s beyond them. He’s our only player who could stick around for most of the day.

Smith and Brook have both showed that kind of capacity. They'll need to show it again tomorrow.

Well played Gill and India .

Difference is India haven’t collapsed unlike the first test or relied on one bowler .

Read some say Root was out to a no ball but wasn’t picked up .

Probably wouldn’t matter anyway

It wasn't a no ball. The heal of his back foot was outside the tramline, but his foot was in, so it was ok. It's going to be a dull, wet day tomorrow, so i expect the ball to swing and India to equalise.

India have been brilliant this test and fully deserve their win.

Sometimes you just get outplayed.

It's been a cracking series so far and set up nicely as we go to Lords.

Mac - without a huge weather intervention it’s done

I beg to differ because there are so many possibles, but we'll only know tomorrow.

Of course anything is possible

but since the advent of bazball, this England team don’t do batting through a day for a draw !

I guess we'll find out.

Why are people talking like this one is already done?

There's still one more day to go and seven wickets to take.

Only rain can save us.

......Because we don't do draws, we aren't chasing 600 & India are good. I Admire your optimism, but we rarely do Bazball & read a match situation together. If we win l will get back to you.

Well, the prevailing feeling may well be correct, goodness knows the odds are that way. But it isn't an inevitability until the last wicket falls tomorrow, so I would not seek to treat it as such.

Just been up there today, great atmosphere as usual in Birmingham. England looked out on their feet, tired shots and bowling lacked zip and preparation. Could have done with Jimmy this morning. Great comeback from India after the first test, though the pitch and lack of sideways movement is suiting them perhaps more than us. Seems a bit like we are removing our home advantage by having such flat pitches.

With England looking a tad tired does anyone reckon Wood and/or Archer come back for Lords?

Bumrah likely to come back for us, and you'd expect Deep to keep his place instead of Krishna.

I doubt we'll see such high scoring on a Lords pitch unless they've completed flattened that too lol
