Another underrated one: Lord of War.

Nicolas Cage in one of his best turns and Ethan Hawke and Ian Holm on form too.

Never watched this. The trailer was awful and the poster reminded me of Con Air. Surprised to learn Cage is in a good movie since Wild at Heart.

Disagree. I don't see why this story wasn't kept to a single feature film - they obviously wanted the milk the franchise. Another example of effects being prioritised over substance.

I’m odd I think but I really enjoy the expansion of lore in any film series (especially hated ones it seems: Star wars Prequels/sequels, matrix sequels, Fantastic Beasts etc.)

I love the radagast/Necromancer scenes. I like the over the top fight scenes goblins town/barrel riding/the five armies battle. I like the sexy dwarf/elf love triangle. I really love Bilbo’s interaction with the dwarfs over the three films. Smaug is awesome. Thorin’s decent into madness (I only don’t like his super abrupt change of heart). Ashok the defiler is a good baddy.

I just really enjoy these films and I’m not afraid of long films (even watch the extended versions for this!) which some people seem to be!

Decent film mate. To jump from Bugzy Malone to Hugh Grant to Matthew McConaughey is really something

Highly recommend a deeply obscure film from 1973 called 'Cops and Robbers.' With Cliff Gorman& Joe Bologna.

It follows the fortunes of two New York cops who basically rip off the mafia.

It's intelligent, funny, exciting and compelling. Morally ambiguous and ridiculously entertaining.

Also it uses locations brilliantly and features a New York, in fact an America, now long gone.

Like I say, it's pretty obscure, but exists on Blu-Ray somewhere.

Don't be put off by the dumb poster.

(Incidentally, the score is excellent).

Despite it's reputation and a number of Oscars, I think One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is still underrated.

The interplay between characters and the move from hilarity to an ever increasing sense of doom, on behalf of all the characters (but especially R P McMurphy), is genuinely brilliant as the film progresses.

Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the hard drinking, fun loving, all American good time guy unwittingly taking on the establishment is an absolute masterclass, remarkably matched by the performance of Louise Fletcher as Nurse Rached.

Add to that a stellar cast, including a very young Danny De Vito, Christopher Lloyd and Scatman Crowthers, and you have an all time classic.

We all like what we like, but I'd advise everyone to give this a go if you haven't already seen it. The cinematography is of it's time, but that matters not given the setting of the film.

On the overrated side, I've never understood the big deal with Reservoir Dogs, decent film, nothing more. The scene accompanied by the Stealers Wheel song is a great scene, but I think it's falsely elevated because of that.

Anyone know if Tarantino just lifted the Mr (enter colour) thing from the Walter Matthau film, The Taking of Pelham 123, or if he was paying homage to that film?

Ridley Scott's Robin Hood tipped to be the next gladiator. Flopped in the US and heavily panned. Tbf I think it's great movie its nice to see us English as the good guys... maybe that's why it flopped in America.

'Double Indemnity' just started on free view 51.

Whip-smart dialogue,  brilliant acting and a beautifully dark view of human nature. Film Noir's finest hour.

Overrated, Titanic, what a load of bull and anglophobic nonsense.

Underrated, Starship Troopers, seems some people think that it glorifies fascism when in fact it’s quite the opposite.

Skyfall has to be the most overrated film going. Bad guy turns up half way through the film, there is no structure to it and then you've got the Home Alone ending. Terrible film.

Agree, and Spectre, shame cos Daniel Craig was brilliant in Casino Royale. The Home Alone films are too silly.

The Martian (Matt Damon) is a great film, but not considered great.

All Is Lost is a great film, Robert Redford attempts to survive on his boat in the Atlantic Ocean after it starts leaking. I think if memory serves me, not one word is spoken and he's the only actor.

The Impossible is underated too.

Underrated: I would say sucker punch. I think is an epic movie that has so much hidden messages but its also a movie with ot of gimmick but at the same messes with your head and if you can get pass all the gimmicky stuff and see the story its mind blowing
