Page 3 of this thread now and nobody has mentioned wanting to have a Nike kit...

Dunno, ethics and stock kit choices aside, I do think a Nike kit would be great.

Weren’t we meant to be moving up an Adidas tier or something which would give us bespoke kits?

Yes I remember reading this, I wonder if it’s a progressional or optional part of the deal?

Think performance based.

New Balance and UnderArmour are virtually out of the replica game now at our level.

A more realistic alternative would be Umbro who are now aggressively spending money again under new management (RFU for example)

The Thais like being with adidas though due to the brand's status within the world so I don't think they'd change for changes sake...

Our relationship with adidas is growing for sure so we may end up with better access to product in the future...

I wolud expect us to re-sign with them if that's the case...

New Balance sponsor Porto, Bilbao, Lille & now Roma so they aren’t out of the game at our level

The thing I can’t stand about Adidas is the 3 stripes. On every kit. Shirt and shorts. Every time.

Even if we move up on their priority list, the stripes will be on every kit we ever have with them. That’s enough for me to want something different.

Well that is their brand lol same as Nike will have their swoosh and a couple of templates with some bespoke features, Hummel will have their arrows, Kappa with their logo everywhere and tighter than swimsuits, Umbro with the diamond, etc

You have to give credit to Adidas for longevity .I think I am correct in saying the brands adidas and puma were brothers who fell out . The brand has been big since early 60s.I watched some northern soul videos recently and adidias samba was the shoe of choice. There was also the stan smith tennis shoe timeless and the proof is folk buy them today.Possibly 60 plus years at the top of the fashion along with but ahead of puma.

They've lost Liverpool, Celtic and ROI - they're definitely not spending any money on football in this market...

I don't know about those regions though it does seem they're still spending there...

Seems mental to me that we can’t get a fully custom Adidas kit. Not that I could tell the difference between that and whatever we currently have anyway, but still.

Not to me really. Adidas will have to spend considerably more time and effort (£££) to produce the bespoke stuff. They need to be able to guarantee returns on that investment from a shirt sales point of view. The only people (really, in the grand scheme of things) buying Leicester shirts are Leicester fans, of which, world wide, there aren’t that many compared to the likes of Arsenal, Man United, Real Madrid etc. If they started selling Leicester shirts in New York for example you’d get a large group of people who 1. Wouldn’t have a clue what it was and 2. Would know who it was but still wouldn’t buy it because they’d probably buy the Real or Man U shirt because they’re huge global brands. They know they can spend more money on producing those kits because it’s almost guaranteed that people will buy them all over the world.

If, however, we continue on our upwards trajectory that will start to change (already has I think we’ve already moved up the pecking order with Adidas for next season). The more exposure we get in Europe (and therefore worldwide) the bigger our case becomes.

I think we get caught up in the emotion of (not you specifically, just generalising) our club and think we’re often bigger than we actually are. The reason we don’t get a bespoke kit from Adidas isn’t because they aren’t bothered about us it’s just strictly business I imagine.

You’ve made a really good point, the bespoke Adidas kits aren’t even that different from the templates anyway really this year. Huge brand but they make very bland football kits these days.

Cheers. I meant more from an advertising perspective, as in I’m surprised all PL teams can’t get custom kits seeing as it’s such a high profile league.  I used to work in manufacturing and can’t see it being too expensive for them to throw a designer at it for a few weeks and churn out a single production run.  It’s not like they’re tooling up for it or anything (I don’t think, don’t know how kits are made).

I suspect it may be more of an exclusivity issue, to tempt the big boys with.
