I think we’ve always said on here that if you put the ball into a dangerous area he has the ability to put it away. But what he has shown in recent months is he is more all round, he’s crating chances for himself. He I don’t think it’s any secret him having a partner allows him to flourish!

He has certainly deserved a new contract. Be interesting how Rodgers uses him in the future as its been obvious he can't play upfront on his own so if he does play he has to play with Vardy or another striker. I still feel we will need to sign another striker in the summer as we can't rely on Vardy to play 38 league games plus Europe and cup games. 3 strikers would give us good options. Still think if we could get Edouard for around £20m that would be decent business

Right length of deal too, if it doesn't work out we still have the chance to claim a decent transfer fee but we've now got the stability that Vardy and Iheanacho will be here for a while and we can work on bringing in another forward to boost the numbers.

I think Rodgers said something like those clauses usually last the term of the first agreed contract. So I’d imagine with this new one it’s now no longer valid. Dunno for certain though.

His time on the pitch has also being inconsistent. Give him a run of games and you can see what a player he can be.

 

People didn't really rate Cags during his first season before he got a good run of games.

Best month of Iheanacho's career - first PL hattrick, 5x goals, knocked United out the FA Cup, POTM award and a new deal. Stop it Nacho you're spoiling us. 


Absolutely stoked for him, and hope he keeps this level of performance up more consistently going forwards.

I kept patience with him for longer than most originally. The thing that always stood out was that if he got a shot off or a chance fell to him was that more often than not he would get it on target.

 

But my patience ran out about a year ago. Whilst he’s had a good run of form in the last month, it doesn’t convince me that the last 3 years of underwhelming performances was the exception and not the norm. He’s a yard short of pace to maintain this kind of impact at this level IMO and the goal record looks great thanks to a hat trick against the worst side we’ve played since we came back up (a bit like how Perez’s goal record looked decent last season thanks to a freak game at Southampton where he bagged a hat trick).

 

We’re not going to get better than him to play second fiddle to Vardy, though, so I suppose it makes sense to extend the deal and protect the £23m investment we made in him. But I’d firmly expect us to go and buy another striker in the summer and have Iheanacho as third choice.

I think it shows also we're not looking for or going to get a straight replacement for a lone striking Vardy. We're going to need, just like the rest of the team to be able to play different combinations and styles up front.

So happy for Kelechi, he comes across as a really great person to have around the squad too. It's one of those occasions where I'm really happy to have been proven wrong, I wrote this guy off as a poor signing. Well done for changing my mind.

Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has signed a new deal with the Club, keeping him at King Power Stadium until at least 2024.

The 24-year-old is enjoying the best form of his Leicester City career, having scored seven times in his last four appearances for the Foxes and picking up the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for March.

The Nigeria international joined the Foxes from Manchester City in August 2017 and has gone on to feature for the Foxes 117 times in all competitions, scoring 32 goals – 12 of which have come in the current campaign.

Iheanacho told LCFC.com: “I can’t express how I’m feeling. I’m excited, I’m happy, I’m overwhelmed! It’s a great moment and I’m happy that Leicester City gave me a new contract.

“It’s been a great time here. It’s not been easy, but there’s a lot of people here that are good people, great people to work with. They are nice people and they make me feel comfortable and welcome since I came in.

“It’s been really great being here. It’s like a family. I’m happy being here and hopefully I can stay here many more years.”

Born in Imo, Nigeria, Iheanacho represented Taye Academy in Owerri as a youth, before joining Manchester City’s Academy in January 2015.

He made 46 appearances for the Citizens in all competitions, finding the net 12 times, before signing for Leicester City in August 2017.

During his first season at the Club, the striker featured for City 28 times in all competitions, scoring eight goals, including a brace against Fleetwood Town and Peterborough United in the FA Cup, and also went on to represent his country at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

In 2018/19, he made 35 appearances for City, scoring twice, while he scored 10 goals in 26 appearances for the Foxes last season, helping them to secure a fifth-place finish in the Premier League and UEFA Europa League football the following campaign.

Iheanacho has represented Nigeria at Under-17s and Under-20s level, and has made 31 senior appearances for his country, scoring nine goals.
