I dont think its a case that those who dont like Selby's style of play don't appreciating tactical play, even the likes of Trump had to bring that into his game to win his world championship. It's more so the defensive shot choices over an attacking one about 9 times out of 10 or spending minutes on certain shots.

C’mon the Jester! Nearly there now. I don’t get why people call him boring. He’s particularly good at the tactical side of the game, which is clearly quite important at the top level.

Two frames in a row now Selby has been miles away with a pot and left Murphy an easy starter. He's wobbling a bit, whereas Murphy is looking composed at the table. This is far from over.
