Collymore Posted 26 November 2021 Posted 26 November 2021 That first 1 minute of the game yesterday summed up the issues BR faces. It was brilliant to see the players go at them and just show a bit of passion and urgency but then in the same breath it looked like our midfield and defence could be bypassed at will by a relatively poor side. One things for certain, just seeing the ball moving forward quickly and players trying to make things happen doesn't half boost the mood. 3

If you’re a manager you just don’t take the risk of offering the opposition an easy chance in the first couple minutes ! That’s the way they operate we really should be able to go forward from the off and not be so open

True but I think the level of opposition probably gives a confidence boost to go out and push forward, against teams like Legia spaces opening up to move into or pass into will always be more frequent, I expect it will be business as usual vs Watford who have issues but will no doubt be setup stronger than Legia were. Love the optimism, I wish I could share it

It didn't take into account the performance during the run-in to the previous season or the fact that performance at the end of a season usually runs forward into the next season; or the pointers that Mahrez and Vardy were primed to explode on the scene; or the gem that we unearthed in Kante; or the excellence of the signings such as Fuchs and others; or the fact that some of the giants of the Prem were going to suffer a dip in form; or the fact that it's all about the performance of the team not the individuals or their price tags; etc. The thing is, one man's expectation is another man's pipedream, and since "expectation" is a very personal feeling, then the term "overperform" similarly defies objective definition. Right. So you were expecting us to win the league then were you? Based on all that evidence you’ve just provided. Edited 26 November 2021 by Manwell Pablo
Popular Post South Shire Fox Posted 26 November 2021 Popular Post Posted 26 November 2021 Most animated ive seen him on the touchline for a long time last night. Berating the fourth official after Barnes getting taken out infront of him, constantly encouraging his players and looking invested in the performance instead of standing there like a statue with his notepad. Long may it continue 6

Corky Posted 26 November 2021 Posted 26 November 2021 Yeah, noticed he looked a lot more fired up after the game and fist pumping towards the fans which he doesn't usually do. Yes, may have been for show but he could also have hidden away and been reserved after the backlash this week. 1
mozartfox Posted 26 November 2021 Posted 26 November 2021 (edited) IF we get a result against Watford on Sunday there will be a massive U-Turn on here and BR will be back on Love Island again. Edited 26 November 2021 by mozartfox 1
winteriscoming Posted 26 November 2021 Posted 26 November 2021 Really don’t get this viewpoint of forget tactics just show passion on the touch line. Nonsense. You need awareness of what the opposition are doing if they change shape/formation.

ALL you need is jumping up and down, fist bumping, screaming your head off and running back and forward like a lunatic. A bit of spittle and the odd pitch invasion also works wonders. 1

Klopp tactics are bawl and scream as loud as you can. Working OK so far.

Clearly Klopp has a game plan and tactical awareness before and during a match. My point is that I’d rather have a manager who puts more effort into tactics than screaming and acting like a clown thru the duration of a game.

I get your point but Klopp trusts his players to go out and express themselves. In other words he let's them take responsibility while he acts as a megaphone cheerleader.

I agree on that but there’s clearly shape, formation and how to beat the opposition that will of been discussed. Before and during a match. As much as I don’t like Klopp there is more to him than just acting like a megaphone cheerleader. There’s a fine balance between acting like a clown and actually getting your point across to players. Klopps record shows it’s the latter.

Plus he’s a really big fucher, so if he wants to act a bit clownish people just let him get on with it. Helps that he is an incredible manager.

And although I watch matches on TV the most noise I heard last night was from the Legia Support(commentator source) consistently. Same as Chelsea. The TIFO was a good start but still feel like we're missing that 12th man (atmosphere).

Look at the top managers atm, Tuchel, Klopp, Guardiola, all animated and show passion on the sidelines
Matt Posted 26 November 2021 Posted 26 November 2021 (edited) I just hope he understands we appreciated the first half showing last night as a opposed to what we've seen all season so far. Ok with all due respect it was against a struggling Legia Warsaw but they're exactly the type of games and teams we struggle against apparently due to not being allowed to go forward and attack them, well, we did it and to great effect! I did joke at HT it was far too positive and exciting for Rodgers and as it happens we came out in the 2nd half much more reserved, not quite as bad as we've largely been seeing so far this season (Calendar year) but verging towards passive, I understand it was simply seeing the game out, at 3-1 the game was won, however I feel if they managed to get that 2nd it could quite easily have turned into a Palace repeat - Thankfully they didn't. Rightly or wrongly he's been critical of the fans for booing and being disgruntled, hopefully he noticed how we equally responded to the attacking intent from the 1st minute last night and acts on that going forward.
