It was a privilege to see him play, and who knew what would happen the season after.

Convinced it was a marquee signing made by Top/Vichai, but it certainly paid off.

He was such a leader in those last few games in the great escape. I think it was the Swansea game and I was sat in the east stand. I spent so much of the second half just watching him play. He was constantly talking, clapping his hands and encouraging his team mates. He was such a leader. At that moment, despite his achievements, to win, his team was Leicester, nothing else mattered.

Would love a player with that sort of footballing ability and leadership to play for us again. It’s always difficult to find one who has both.

LeicEsterban Cambiasso. I'm a fussy bugger, but I would have liked a video of some of his midfield play. And I would have rather the soundtrack wasn't Coldplay.

I'm a simple man, I see an Esteban Cambiasso video with Coldplay playing in the background, I'll upvote. :)

Thank you for sharing, I fondly remember the optimism and positivity around Cambiasso's signature that season from fans to have a player of his quality and experience come to the club upon promotion to the Premiership. Undoubtedly, his importance to the club has been deeply felt and demonstrated under the 'Great Escape'.

I still wish he would have accepted the club's new deal and stayed with us for the following season instead of joining Olympiacos. :(

I came across this video I created back in the day, it got took down quite quickly by YouTube but luckily I backed it up else where... I wanted to share it as I really feel this great man has had such an influence on our past that could quite easily be forgotten.

Could it be argued that Esteban is a big reason we've had such success and without him we might have never won the PL or be in an FA Cup final?

I know it's all a bit "Ifs" and "buts" but please, for this moment turn your speakers up and remember once again the great ...

Esteban Cambiasso.

Love it. I always thought it worth the entrance fee just to watch him. His mind seemed way ahead of anyone else on the pitch when you concentrated just on him, things weren't coincidental, he read them.

That's all the footage I had access to at the time. There's a bit where he high fives Morgan at Sunderland away at the end of the game and I'd gone out of my way to put that in, anything I could find of him went in.

I thought he was the most delightful player to watch.

Anthony Knockaert was massive for me up until then, I didn’t like seeing his decline in the last season, but then Esterban rocked up and I had a new hero.

Just pure class, I loved watching him.

A very, very good player no doubt, but some worshipped him like the messiah at times. He did have his flaws, although what he did do well probably outweighed them.

Taken as a whole he probably came and went at the right time. The alternative to signing him was James Mcarthur, who he was better than, but has he stayed another season we may not have signed Kante, who was without question a better player for us all told.

Nevertheless, very pleasing to watch him work his magic, very classy, and by all accounts a top bloke, apart from Vardy, who seemingly thought he was a bit of a bell.

1. The way that the thread title is worded made me think Cambiasso had snuffed it.  Phew.

2.  "The Great Cambiasso" sounds quite like a name for a magician.

But carry on...

In terms of genuine stature of a player coming to the club, have we ever had a bigger signing? Still surreal

The only other player that genuinely staggered me that we were signing was Stan Collymore and on the face of it that wasn't that much of a surprise as we were a good PL team and he was out of sorts with many issues.

Cambiasso signing was just beggars belied.

...just how many times do we need to remember him!!!

Perhaps a precursor to advance dementia....seems contagious.

All the time the guy was immense and in his prime world class and won everything in the game. and was instrumental in the great escape of which if we hadnt stayed up Vichal wouldnt of made us sing champions of England
